Our new mate Cal might make a comment on this. I suppose if money is no object. But I don't even think many pros would be opting for this one.

Who needs 60 MP...................unless you're planning on turning photos into full size bill boards
Re: Thiking about a new camera!
Well it’s out of my price range but I have “worked professionals” who would pay that without even thinking. We had a photographer over the summer who only seemed to carry around a black box about shoe box size and it got the better of me and I asked him one day what camera it was. I forget the brand but he said it was worth 25k and was silent so it didn’t interfere with the audio guys. These blokes are on a few grand a day so 30k on a tax deductible business expense is doable.
It’s far from a consumer bit of gear (and bloody ugly to boot) but I’m sure it gives the results the pros want and the client is prepared to pay for.

I notice it has free shipping, which is quiet nice.
it sort of looks between a kettle and a small vacuum cleaner.
a paparazzi`s delite for the naked celebrities on the beach who want to crop their photos

The free shipping is only for the US, that's what tuned me off.........as if
Re: Thiking about a new camera!
Did any of you notice that it is missing a lens? You pay extra for that! I never had the need for such a gadget as I was doing motorsport and had no need for a "Blad" of any sort. Have a look at the price of the Canon pro lenses ie 500F4L, 600F4L, 400F2.8L and the Canon pro bodies EOS 1... (I had a few of these bodys) thats the gear that I used and that was $$ too.
The "Blad" is more of a studio/fashion camera designed for BIG posters/billboards and also high end advertising/architecture. The problem with this gear is that there is one out with more megapixels and better colour every twelve months or so and the clients know this and demand it in a lot of cases, so you just have to keep spending the money! All good fun

When did you make the switch to Nikon Cal ? I was a Canon devote, and then decided to try the "other side ". Very glad I did.

Re: Thiking about a new camera!
Hmm, not sure how to answer that Hammy. I have had both Nikon and Canon over the years. I started with Nikon film then went to Canon film then went to Canon digital then Nikon digital, then to Canon digital ......then I had Nikon.....
Oh and Pentax digital (was crap), Mamiya 6x7", Fuji 6x9", Hasselblad Xpan 35mm panoramic, Olympus 35mm film...I can't remember the rest.
Current tool is Nikon D700 full frame 12mp, was doing a lot of real estate photography with it paired with a Sigma 12-24. I have always just used what works when it comes to cameras. The D700 was the right tool for the job at the time.
I still have a soft spot for the Canon pro gear, it's what I have spent most time with, dials are in the right place as far as I am concerned. I do just look at camera gear the way a mechanic looks at spanners, buy the best you can afford for the job at hand. Don't go out and throw money at, and get something you like the look of, but are not going to get the use out of. I have seen people do this all to often (same with bikes I guess)

Re: Thiking about a new camera!
Cheers Cal. I noticed the D700 in the "face to a name shot ". I have a mate over here on the island who is a pro, specialising in architecture. Some of his stuff is very good. Only trouble is he shows me things on his computer ( PS ) that goes right over my head. Mind you, he also teaches at University. He shoots a D800. Has given me some good tips. Bikes and photography are my two great hobbies. Can't wait to get my eyes fixed so that I can see thru the viewfinder again. he he .

Re: Thiking about a new camera!
I'm yet to meet a shooter who knows everything pro or not.
Dropped some PSD files off at my local printing and framing shop yesterday and as excited as I am to see the results I know I'll look back on them in the future and think they are no better than average.
Keep shooting. Keep learning.

I remember back in the 1980's for my Canon SLR they had different viewfinder lenses that were graduated for your eye perscription so you didn't need to wear glasses, thought that was a cool idea, bummer if anyone else wanted to use your gear though
Re: Thiking about a new camera!
Most cameras have adjustable diopters these days, its a little wheel right on side of viewfinder, that you can adjust for your own focus.. i always use my viewfinder, cause the sun really ruins my sight while looking at a stupid LCD screen not much bigger than a credit card.

Even the dioptic adjuster cannot correct cataracts. Sadly.
