servicing/fixing tools Empty servicing/fixing tools

thought I'd start this thread as a bit of a discussion on what servicing or fixing tools you use on your bandit.
A list something like

Tool - what it's used for - good or bad

would be good i recon as it could be used as a sharing info kind of thing to help the community know what tools work and what tools don't.

It's not intended as a tool register for lending/borrowing but I guess if you are next door then it's up to you

I'll start (and probably add stuff later)

Tool: 1/4" torque wrench (4 to 30Nm)
Used for: tightening all those little nuts and bolts especially those in ally parts cause I'm a heavy handed MOFO
Worth it: good in my situation, 2 thumbs up

Yeah i use a 1/4 torque wrech too, i think mine goes from 10 - 100. Ive got a big one to. Around 50 - 200 or so. Thats good for axle nuts when i change tyres and all that. They are brilliant wreches. Both Repco ones.

servicing/fixing tools Hacksaw Cutting stuff off.
servicing/fixing tools Hammer Hammering stuff back on.
servicing/fixing tools Wd40 For something that doesn't move when it should.
servicing/fixing tools Ducttape For something that moves when it shouldn't.

Other than that I have nothing specific, although I did make my own carb balancer out of $3 worth of plastic tube and a ruler.

servicing/fixing tools Empty Axle nut

Post  CHERRY1 Tue 11 May 2010, 10:15 pm

Rather tan buy a special tool for removing the front and rear axles, I simply bought a high tensile bolt about 24mm x50mm long and 2 nuts x 24mm which I then locktited and tightened VERY tight and it works a treat! About $2?
Holds the axles whilst working well. Very Happy
