Disappointed PR2 Tyre Life
Ok first off I have always sung the praises of PR2's on the Bandit (& RF900R) and the current tyres are the second set on the B1250.
However I noticed this morning they are showing considerable wear in the center at only 7, 000km. The last PR2, s I had on it did 16, 000km and looked pretty new at 10,000km. Going by what I see there is no way these will do 12, 000km because the last bit disappeared quickly last time.
I should point out the front looks fine. Did I get a dud rear hoop?

Michelin have a speed & load rating on their tyres,

I can't see that Metzeler have such a rating on their tyres .... at least I can't see it on their website. I think I'll get Metzeler roadtec Z8 next time

Mine's done 12,000 & looks on track to maybe get over 16,000......................I run Suzuki suggested pressures in mine if that helps or not .( front just starting to wear slightly on the side )

So do I. Or close to it.
Re: Disappointed PR2 Tyre Life
Maybe a dud then ................I did hear once they make their tires in different countries and not all tires come from the same place .............not sure if this is true or not

I must be unkind to tyres. My only pr2 lasted just on 9000. The bridgestones last 6000. These are both ridden to the belt line too with no burn outs etc, just heavy right wrist and my 85kg lump. Tyre pressures always as per the man in the book.

Too many variables. Uniess you rode the exact same road, in the exact same conditions, ie road temp, surface type, speed , weight, so on. The biggest factor I think would be heat. If you did a run on a really hot day and the tyre became excessively hot then maybe that would "stuff it ".for future use. It would wear out quickly. Maybe.

My brother replaces his PR's at ~5,000kms on the Ducati ST3. I'm happy if I'm getting 15,000 which I have done out of one set of PR2's and one set of PR3's.

I ran Metzlers on my old bike for the whole 21 years I had it, they did have different ratings and a couple of times I ended up with rears that lasted 7-8000 instead of 10500 - 12000 kms
Re: Disappointed PR2 Tyre Life
My Original Q2's that came on the bike have seen 8,200 KM so far, and starting to wear. I may have another 2-3 weeks left on the (2,000-3,000 KM)
Just got My Pilot Road 3's on Friday. Looking forward to seeing how they play out on the bike.

Re: Disappointed PR2 Tyre Life
The only thing different for me this time is I have a 40km rural commute and not the 5km town commute (each way) but with 2 bikes im not doing a few hundred km most weekends either.
I'll replace them when they need it. A mate has just fitted the new sports max to his Z1000. I will be watching with interest.

I think I got about 25,000 out of mine. Me thinks you got a dud mate. I'm going PR3 next

Just putting it out there, but maybe with less weight on the bike you are spinning up the rear?

Sounds like my stubbies or schooners.
