DanMoto clip-ons.....
I have decided to get clip-ons for the Bandit. As much as I like the Renthal Ultra Low bars I am searching for more comfort. Less vibration through my hands.
So after reading some reviews on the DanMoto clip-ons and seeing as they are around $100 I thought I would give them a go.
Yes I know they are made in China. Hey come on Kawasaki make some of their 650 Twins in Indonesia and sell them around the world. Yes i know that some of the first batch of these clip-ons had some breaks under heavy braking. That was a few years back now and I have yet to any feedback since then to suggest that they are still crap. So I thought I would give them a go.
I ordered them just as Chinese New year was happening. So had to wait for that to finish and then they were sent via EMS. Real quick postage this. I had them within 4 days. Open the packet and find they sent one fork clamp that was way to big for my forks. Quick emails between me and them and they have sent me a replacement clamp no questions asked.
So while I wait on this to arrive I thought I would do a "dry" fit of the one I have that will fit. I replaced all the hex bolts supplied with stainless steel ones. The ones supplied were, well, a bit not so good.
I will pass judgement when I have them fully fitted and have had a bit of a spin on the bike to see how they feel.

I would have thought clip on's would give you LESS comfort and MORE vibration through the bars ??????

Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
DanMoto clip-ons done different..
I had a brain wave. Or brain fart, depends on how you see what I have done. Instead of mounting these clip-ons to the forks I played around with some old Renthal bars by cutting them up and fitting the clip-ons to these. I have made my own set of Jota Bars. Adjustable as anything.
I will carry an allen key with me till I get the bars set in just the right position.
The way I have them they are way narrower than the OEM bars. Which I really like the feel of so far.
The only down side is to have them any higher will need a longer brake line.

The beauty of a single bar is nothing can go wrong.A few too many joins for me .
I also look at a bike and think " if i get launched over the bars , are my nuts going to get caught up on anything ?" Those two pillars worry me .
Paranoid ...Gus:D

Vacectomy pillars. Hang on I had that op 14 years ago.
Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
I'm with Gus on that one mate. Too much to come loose unless they're keyed.

Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
I would be quite surprised if they didn't cause discomfort between the shoulders on longer trips from being closer together
That was one of the reasons i swapped my original bars to the renthals ultra lows
X2 on all the joints bit scary under emergency braking
I have original suzuki end weights on my renthals with a renthal road bike cross brace and no vibration whatsoever at the bars

Guys, I am thinking that if you are worrying about your nuts on that bar, you would have bigger things to worry about ,if you're flying over the handlebars lol...

Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
Once I have them exactly were I want them comfort wise I shall drill and pin them.
The bars not my balls.

Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
When I took delivery of my Danmoto clips-ons they sent me one clamp that was the wrong size. While the replacement was on its way I played around with this set up. http://rossmz.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/danmoto-clip-ons-done-different.html
Today the replacement clamp arrived. So I fitted them the way they are intended to be done.
They feel great. Just a bit lower than the OEM bars. Yet I can adjust them in so many ways to suit.
Took the bike out for a bit of a blat and the mirrors do not blur at all now. Vibes are being soaked up by the forks. Hard revs and I get a tingle through the bars.
They are wider than my fake Jota bar setup. I am very surprised with how comfortable they are.
I also had to do a real hard brake when out on this blat. They did not move or flex at all.

Reminds me of the old KATANA 1100 I used to have. Your frog isn't very observant Ross as he hasn't noticed the fly on the left hand grip. Asleep at the wheel.

It cleans and tidies the head stem area up, but I'm not sure I'd like the riding position

They are way more comfortable than you think. I now have my wrist angle where I like it. The mirrors do not blur at all now. Really surreal to see what's behind you with not mirror buzz.
The frog is on strike. He wants his own bike and I said no.

Is this the kind of wrist position you had in mind Ross ? Hmmmmm.

Re: DanMoto clip-ons.....
Hey Ross,
With this new clip on setup how are your hips and knees with the standard pegs, given that clip on bars are usually fitted with rear sets as well. I like the look of the bars but am wondering about pain in the hips and knees after a bit of time in the saddle. How tall are you?
regards,
Graham

I am 5'9.
My knees have both been damaged many years ago in motorcycle accidents. This means if I sit for too long they lock up a bit. Does not matter where I am sitting. Or what I am sitting on. So would not matter what setup I have on the bike in relation to my knees.
Hips on the other hand are good. The clip ons do not affect my hips at all.
The clip ons are almost the same height as the oem bars.
