Help - replacing engine cover
Hi All
So last weekend I dropped my bike in the driveway, and now need to replace a few bits. The question I have relates to the lower engine cover on the left hand side. Got the replacement part and a new gasket from the dealer, but do I need any other sealant or the like, or do I just fit the gasket.
Would appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

Thanks for that. Just realised I have a more fundamental problem. I do not know how to get it off. Removed all the silver bolts, and I can wiggle it a little (maybe 5mm to and bottom), but that's it...... So, second dumb question for the day, how the hell do I get this thing off.

Re: Help - replacing engine cover
my 1250 has a pry point at top left & bottom right . Use a leaver ( with a piece of wood or something between the motor & lever ) & see if that helps
3 bond is a good sealant but a bugger to clean off if there is a next time

Re: Help - replacing engine cover
The reason it is hard to get off is because it's held on by the stator's magnetic effect. There was a lot of resistance when I took mine off, enough to keep pulling the cover back onto the dowels. Be careful of catching the tips of your fingers!
Anyway, just keep pulling straight out and shove a rag or something in behind the edge of the cover so the gap doesn't keep closing up.
A small amount of oil might also leak out when you get the cover off.

Excellent, thanks fellas, all fixed. Ended up slipping 2 pieces of thin tie down strap behind the cover and pulling forward, came off easily.
Looking much better now.
