REPLACING LEVERS
Folks,
I bought these carbon look-a-like levers on eBay for $16.85 (the set).
[img][/img]
They look like they're aluminium (possibly alloy) painted somehow. The paint may wear after a while but only if I manage to fit them! The brake looks easy but does anyone know what you do with the clutch lever and the actuator rod? Does it come out of the lever or the clutch cylinder? If it's the lever, just exactly how is it removed - does it unscrew?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Ewok

Re: REPLACING LEVERS
Ok - I just found some info at this website: http://asvinventions.com/TechSupport/INSTRUCTIONS_CRC545_RevB.pdf
It looks generic but both B1200 and B1250 are listed. The actuator rod appears to just sit in the barrel (ie not screwed in at all). If that is the case, it should be easy enough. Can anyone cofirm these instructions are the same as 'reality'?
Another job for after work tomorrow! Gotta luv this daylight savings.

Re: REPLACING LEVERS
As per the instructions you provided, levers should only be replaced by qualified mechanics!
Ok, I jest.
Yep, the instructions are correct - it just sits in there.

Re: REPLACING LEVERS
You have probably figured it out already, but the actuator rod sits in a hole in the brass bush that you need to push out of the old lever and transfer to the new one, bit of grease on the bush, pivot and actuator rod and you're done,

Re: REPLACING LEVERS
Thats for the master cylinder. The pin stays there and you just remove the old lever and the brass bush will come out easy. Place it in new lever, refit and you're good to go.
CRC lithium grease does an awesome job with lubricating these fiddly little bits and is very cheap. I use it on side stand etc. Saves pulling everything apart to get grease in those hard to get at spots.

Thanks for the replies guys - didn't end up with any problems ("Murphy" must have had the day off!). Here's a piccie, which also shows the left side mirror with the extender block installed:

Of course, I did the brake lever as well. Thanks also for the tips on the grease.
