Well we (4) set off at 7:10 am on saturday, on the barge to Redland Bay to start our trip to Drake, NSW. Left Redland Bay at 8:00 am headed out through Mt Cotton to the M1 , off at Yatla and out to Beaudesert. Then onto Warwick for a refuel and brunch stop. Next stop was a famous little pub on the border of NSW/QLD. A quick refreshment then onto Tenterfield. Then the unmentionable. Rain. Sad Just enough to make the 50km section , which would be one of the nicest bike rides, from tenterfield - Drake too slippery to enjoy it the way it should be. Damn. Oh well. Next time. The Hotel/Motel at Drake is a Rev Heads heaven. Five Bikes sit in the Bar. Memorabilia all over the place. Fantastic hosts. Bob and Dez. Cold beer. Great meals and comfy lodgings. They even do budget accomadation in the form of container sleep outs for groups up to ten. We went the motel units. We picked a good weekend to go there as they were having a Xmas function and the joint was buzzing. Top band playing. Lots of laughs and merriment. This morning we all tried to surface as early as we could. There was no sign of live around the place at 7 amish when we set off for a different track home. Towards Woodenbong. Made our way to the Lions road. A senic lookout that overlooks a historic train line that snakes its way around and throgh a hill. Well worth the effort to go and see. Fairly good roads with lots of little one way wooden bridges. Some steep sections. Then we snaked our way back to Beaudesert and then onto Mt Tamborine to finish off with. All up. A very comfortable 750 kms. Tne 1250 was absolutely brilliant. She purrs. We are alreadt talking about our next 1 or 2 night trip. There are some beautiful roads around that area, and lovely people to meet.
