Drake Overnighter.

Will be doing an overnighter to Drake and surrounding districts in 2 or 3 weeks time with a couple of mates from here. If anyone would like to meet up somewhere that would be great. Will post more details as time gets nearer.

Been waiting for one of the guys to get his new Trumpy fixed up. Is over in the shops now. I'm guessing that it will now be the weekend 10-11th Nov'. Fingers crossed.

Keep the info coming... I wanted to go up that way a few months back but had to delay the trip...so... you never know...?

near the NSW/QLD border ... long way from Sydney, two days ride just to get there.
I am thinking of a Gold Coast run sometime before Christmas. Oxley hwy and the run from armidale to grafton along the way ... I think I'll be going mid-week though.

To get to drake, I go through grafton, up the summerland way to casino, then hang a lefty on the bruxner hwy.
The drake hotel hosted the "most bikes ridden through a bar" world record attempt a few years back. Which, I might add, did do. Unfortunately, the weekend the attempt was held was pretty crappy weather wise, & they didn't get the record.
It takes approx 3.5 hrs from coffs to get there

At last I have gotten the mob to agree on a date. Five bikes/riders will be making the ride to Drake on the 8th of December. We have booked rooms to stay at the, wait for it,... " The Lunatic Hotel ". Thats right. That is what it's called. Check their website if you don't believe me. Our plan is to ride out to Beaudesert then over some hills and neat bits of road down into Tenterfield around early afternoon for lunch. Then the marvelous looking little strech of road t Drake. Endulge in some good ol' NSW/QLD rivalry and socialising . A hearty meal followed by some more rivalry and socialising. Next morning return home via a different route. Bring it on !!!

I would be keen for this. could be done in a day if you stick to the new england hwy, any others from nsw ?

Sounds good Baz... can't commit right now as I've a few jobs in the pipeline.. but definitely worth thinking about...

We ( The Island Five ) are booked into the Drake Hotel/Motel for the 8th of Dec'. Hopefully we wont get too lost on the way there. One of our group sez he knows all the roads around there and that he will show us the way. Would like to be at the pub about 3ish, after a nice ride and look around. Next day same thing on the way home. I won't be hard to miss. I will be the one in a NSW bar wearing a QLD state of origin jumper. Hey ! They haven't had a winner in the bar for seven years so I think I will give em a treat.
