I was thinking of getting them myself but over the last 12months of owning the bandit I have pretty much got use to it, plus I don't really want to make the bike wider. I like being able to squeeze through tight spots

I think Paul has had the " Minor Extension " operation. But he doesn't talk about it much, makes him walk funny.

Re: mirror extensions
I have the ebay extender blocks, and have used them on both my GSX650 and GSX1250, because I like to know what is behind me all the time, not just when changing lanes. My neck would fall off if I had to do this via head check, it also takes your eyes off the road infront.
For me they area must have.

I suggest you dont have them set right in the first place and please do a head check
The LH is the one that shows you behind (most of the lane) The RH shows whats coming along side.
Assuming single lane and correct lane position.

Up until today I thought this was a good forum, today I realised if I ate a can of alphabet spaghetti I could shit a better argument than those I have read today.
I am a big bloke with broad shoulders, if moving my mirrors out 5 mm is the biggest problem we have in the world today, all I can say is, happy days.

By the way, welcome FGB, you may not have entered the forum in the normal manner, but hey who gives a fuck, you ride a bike, so all is good. Don't worry too much about the handful of guys who seem to have forgotten that riding is far more important that some forum etiquette.

You must realise car_ham that forums are a great place to vent something behind the cloak of the internet. Most members will read a reply that does not sit well with them, but hey, that is all our right to our seperate opinions. This IS a good forum from what I have seen in my time here, and rest assure the moderators do a great job in allowing freedom of speech. To a certain degree of course. Enjoy the wealth of knowledge that this site has to offer. I have. And as you say. In the end, it is all about riding our bikes.

Re: mirror extensions
+1. At the end of the day a set of mirror extenders isn't worth getting stressed over. If we all had the same opinion, we'd all have them or all not havem, along with every other mod !

Re: mirror extensions
and a little bit of netiquette does not go astray. you don't come into a forum that has an introduction area asking questions straight up. do you go into a motorbike showroom and ask questions without at least introducing yourself to the sale person?
as an example I stumbled on these forums after buying my Bandit and potentially just wanting to sell some Givi pannier racks, still haven't advertised them, though may have sold them to a member anyway. but if I had just come in and first post was a sale post, that would have been quite rude IMO and IME.
people today a getting too lazy. a simple google search on "bandit 1200 mirror extenders" reveals a host of options to choose from. as for whether you need them, that is a personal choice, WGAF? do we judge every members changes to their bike, course not.

Re: mirror extensions
Coming back to the extenders, the SW Motech ones have worn well over the last 2 years. No fading.
There's been some on line discussion around some of the Delrin/plastic block ones off EBay fading badly in sunlight. Not tried these personally, but worth a check given the strong sunlight in Australia

other way around for me, the sw motech faded quickly and badly, the delrin blocks never faded. I still have the sw motech ones but they are no longer black.kewwig wrote:Coming back to the extenders, the SW Motech ones have worn well over the last 2 years. No fading.

SW Motec Mirror Extensions 1250 Bandit
I bought the SW Motec mirror extensions within a week of owning my new 1250 (November 2012). These are very effective and make riding much safer for me. Nice quality like all the Motec gear.
I had no rear view probs on my previous bike (WeeStrom), but the restricted view from my new Bandit seat made riding in traffic hard work - no good at all.
The Motecs are expensive for what they are, but we are talking safety and I had no hesitation getting a pair straight away.
I can recommend the SW Motecs highly for making an easier, safer ride.
GG
