Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
What's the general consensus on mirror/indicator combos? Most of the ones I've seen are shorter than the standard mirror and even with the extender blocks, useless to see with.

Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
These are only slightly shorter, but lower as well. For $40 they are alright

It's a mirror mount, I stuffed up and hit new post rather than reply and didn't add it to previous discussion. So it is missing all the other info unless you go here

Maybe a silly question but would they sit higher if they were the other way up and on opposite sides of the bike ?
The arm of the mirror looks angled in the photo.

Yes Paul. I have these mirrors and have tried them all ways. If you aim them up you cannot adjust the mirror to see correctly. I have done like Reddog, and mounted them on the original brackets. Much happier. I think they give a good enough view, but hey ! I ride a "RED" one so nothing is going to be coming up from behind.

Do you mean everything is in front of the red one then ?

Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
Hahahaha..... Back on topic they are lower, but you can still see behind you and they don't vibrate excessively either. They do feel much more "plasticky" than the originals, but I think for the sake of other motorists being able to see me indicating is a much bigger bonus.
If I can get a set of GSXR ones to fit I'd have used them

Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
I changed over to mounts yesterday, back to the stock ones Reddog. Not a big job. I ground the aftermarket stems down enough to use the two original washers as well. Am very happy with the result as I can tighten them up very tight now.

Sounds good Hammy. Will maybe think about doing that to mine as well.
How do you like themon the stock mounts so far? I think they look pretty reasonable for cheap mirrors

Slightly off topic, but my headlight, Is the positive wire, the black with white or is it the white wire?
No, I don't have a light tester thingy... If no one Responds to this tonight, I will buy one tomorrow..

Hi Gringo,
The B/W (anywhere on the bike) is usually the earth (-ve), the W is Lo beam, and the Y is hi beam.
Left indicator is B, Right is Lg with B/W still -ve. Note that the indicators have the same wiring at the actual stalks/bulb, the L/g is the front loom wiring, but this changes again to B/G at the chasis (the left keeps the B colour all the way).
The position lights (parkers) are both Br (again with a B/W -ve). This is a good tap for an ignition 12v positive. These position light also do not switch off as the bike is being started.
Good luck.
Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
Thank you very much!
Yes I have head I am able to hook the headlight up thrugh the park lights, but I have no idea how to do that, so will stick with the normal system.
I have a spare bulb and balast.. so when it does go I can just replace I guess.
Thank you for the info on the other lights, as I also have LED indicators coming and will use this info to hook them up when I get them.

I think they look pretty good Reddog. Best of all they feel nice and solid. If one broke for any reason , I would not hesitate in buying another set. The LEDs are great.

Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
Well... they were good while they lasted. Went to pull the mirrors in today to get the bike between my two vehicles in my shed and the left hand mirror snapped off in my hand.
I will be going back to the stock mirrors tonight when I get the big girl home. Time to order some better front indocators (Rizoma to match the back I reckon as they are bright and small) though as the flush mounts are cheap shit.

Re: Aftermarket mirror wiring
yep, that's why I didn't go with the mirror/indicator combos, break one and both are buggered (mirror and indicator that is). I do have a set as emergency spares for mirror purposes only, but will not hook up the indicators as part of the setup if I use them.
FWIW, the GS500F mirrors fit the Bandit nicely if anyone is chasing a more cost effective mirror only replacement.
