Sticking ignition barrel on K1
Anybody had a sticky ignition barrel on a 1200 K1 Bandit? Key just jams then frees up.

Try squirting some WD40 /CRC or similar into the lock

You really shouldn't use a liquid lubricant in any sort of lock. Whilst it might given initial benifit, it will eventually attract even more dirt, filings and grit.
Graphite power is the prefered method - not sure where you get it these days though.

Fuchs (silkolene) do a graphite spray called Silkopen. I use it on cables and even the door handles. It works brilliantly.

You can get graphic powder from heaps of places, even Bunnings sells it, sure I've seen it in there.
Most auto places should have it, and our local tiny engineering/mechanical/car place has it.
Comes in a squeeze bottle with a long tip like locktite..

I picked up a bottle from from bunnings. You need to keep it in a plastic bag as it gets every where

FYI
SILKOPEN
Contains a suspension of very fine lubricating graphite in a thin searching mineral oil carrier to penetrate corroded or seized threads and lubricate at the same time. Can penetrate the full length of the cable, forcing out dirt and corrosion, leaving a thin graphite and oil lubricating film for a silky smooth lever action.

Bugger, ive already used oil in it. Should I spray it out with some brake clean and use some graphite?

If you've only given it a small squirt of crc ,I wouldn't bother / I've used it in the past & not had any problems , but it's up to you. ( graphite may be better although I read it can be corrosive if it gets wet on some metals e.g. aluminum )
Read the other properties section in this .............. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphite ............. (or just keep it out of the rain )

I've never had a problem with the ignition persay but the ignition lock is seized on my 2002. Tried graphite, WD40 all to no avail.

Only 2 bolts under the top clamp. Shouldn't need to undo the clamp.

Selley's Ezy Glide (green can) works well in locks too. I saw a locksmith using it and I've also used it for years with no ill effects. Def do't use WD-40

"stiff" Ignition Switch
Hello SBA Forum !!
I just got back to my Bandit, after being away 9 months.
After a few times riding my ignition has become "stiff" to turn.
I sprayed CRC on both sides of the key and tried it out but no help.
I let it sit overnight. I tried it again this morning and it seems ALOT better.
I read all about not spraying and graphite, but I had to do something...
Hope all is well with you guys.
