both went off at once and the fuses are ok...........any suggestions? Shocked

Check the connectors along the headlight wires.

If both fuses are OK and both bulbs are OK ...

Use a multimeter and check for continuity from one (or both) of the headlight bulb negative terminals to the frame of the bike

fault found [not by me though] it was a corroded spade in one of the big plugs in the harness
