First topic message reminder :
did a search on this but nothing came up.
i've been running 91 fuel, does anyone know if premium is worth the extra $$$?
what does everyone put in their bandits?

Re: what fuel do you run?
You'll find owners of older Hardleys actually throw half a cup of diesel in with every 3rd or 4th tank just to keep the internals lubricated. Or so I'm told by a mate down the pub who does do this in his Springer and says he's not alone.

Re: what fuel do you run?
The mystery is that it would start smoking and stop after a tank top up.
This occurred 3-4 times and has not done it since.
One of life's mysteries
BTW the bike is a Honda Deauville with about 70,000Km on the clock

I heard in the past, that up to 10% deisel in a petrol tank will not have any lasting bad effects on the petrol engine. Apparently, the same can be said of petrol in a deisel tank.

Hmmm, I use 98 premium and I get about 180K's on a full tank. (19L Tank)
Is something wrong?

Not if you only use 3rd gear!floydiangreen wrote:Hmmm, I use 98 premium and I get about 180K's on a full tank. (19L Tank)

Seems a bit low. You do know there's a 6th gear, right?floydiangreen wrote:Hmmm, I use 98 premium and I get about 180K's on a full tank. (19L Tank)

Sounds like too much "right-wrist-itis"
And I thought my sidecar rig was thirsty
Re: what fuel do you run?
I filled up last night after 210km of all city riding, still had about 4 litres leftfloydiangreen wrote:Hmmm, I use 98 premium and I get about 180K's on a full tank. (19L Tank)

OK, I ride a mixture of brisk highway driving and mountain twisties at somewhat lower speeds and I'm averaging 53 mpg. In metric, that's about 22.5 km/liter.
I run just regular gasoline, here that's 87 octane by the USA measure, 91 RON by the Euro rating system.

I've just clocked up 65,300kms on a 2010 1250S. 91, 95, 98 - it makes no difference!

Re: what fuel do you run?
It really is not that complicated.
Push the gear lever down and say "2nd"
From here on its up to 3rd, 4th, 5th and lastly 6th.
What you are missing is 1st gear and with a big high torque motor you probably don't miss it.

98 from Caltex (Safeway), or BP. Never had any fuel pump issues. I've used 91 and 95, but only in an emergency (98 wasn't available). I like it.

Re: what fuel do you run?
Yeah I don't see much difference in fuel economy between 91 / 95 / 98 either, (and I keep records of all my fuel consumption). Nor performance, only expense!
Maybe it's different for the carbied 1200?
I only bother putting 95 in these days when the the petrol station doesn't sell untainted 91.

I went on a good ride on Sunday, i got 305.8 km from a full tank 19L of Shell 91RON. Still approx 3+ litres in the tank, i figure this is quite good..

Re: what fuel do you run?
I was never game to push past 300. My last bar flashed at 240km on a highway run. Flashed at 170km once but I was playing pretty hardMIKER wrote:I went on a good ride on Sunday, i got 305.8 km from a full tank 19L of Shell 91RON. Still approx 3+ litres in the tank, i figure this is quite good..
