Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
My Bandit "S" is going naked.
Headlamp brackets ordered.
7inch H4 headlamp from my BMW. May respray the bucket satin black.
Bar end mirrors order. Will spray the bar end parts satin black.
Contacted Eastern Beaver about making me a relay harness to convert from twin globes to one H4 globe. Waiting his reply.
Instrument shrouds? Will either use a Buell style fly screen to cover this great naked ugliness up as the S does not have any bottom to the pods. Or see if the black BMW pods I have can be cut up and used.

I'm all for naked. But I dont see too many nice "chopped" S models going around. Bits hanging off where they shouldn't. Wires pokeing out. Sell it and BUY a naked. JMHO.

Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
Why? Because i can. I can't afford to buy a naked one. I have not seen a naked one for sale. Plus I am a fiddler. Every bike I have have owned I have had to fiddle with it.
I am sick of the fairing vibrating. I have used felt in places and still it rubs. Twice now it has fallen off the sidestand. Both times my fault. Last time there was damage to the paint work. I am sick of fairings. Look what was on the BMW I have.

Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
Bar end mirrors have arrived. This started an avalanche of stripping. Which is good as now I can start to make the instrument mounting bracket and have a good look at the wiring to see how to get the H4 single headlamp hooked into the harness.
Took about 3 hours.
When the wiring harness gets here from Eastern Beaver and the headlamp brackets from eBay I shall be fully naked.

Watching with interest .Are you going for the stock look with the single headlight or is that just what you have ?

Single 7 inch Bosch headlight off my BMW. I have brackets in the mail to mount this off the forks.
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
If you'd gone the double headlight look like Gus, you wouldnt need the new harness. It'd look cool too

The original harness is way too weak and this is one of the reasons the headlamps are not that good on the 1200s.
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
Come on people everyone knows real men ride naked things I mean bikes.
Please, please tell me where can I get a set of bar end mirrors like the ones you have? I really need a set.

eBay. They range from $200 downwards. I paid $25 for mine.

Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
This arrived today. Great looking bit of kit. Now can't wait for the head lamp brackets to arrive and some Rostered Days off work to have at it.
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
While I wait for the last bit of this puzzle to arrive. The headlamp brackets. I have made up and remounted the Instruments. Used a bit of flat stock aluminium. Made a triangle contraption out of this aluminium. Mounted it to the bolts that hold the handle bars on at the steering stem. Then mounted to the bolts that hold the instruments to the full fairing bracket.
At this point in time I am not worrying about getting a set of "N" instrument pods. The "S" only has half pods. Painted the back of the instruments black and will see what that looks like one the single headlamp is on.
Can't take the fairing frame off and original headlamps just yet as the bike is my daily transport.

Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
Headlamp bracket arrived this arvo. Alloy brackets and the seller also put some stainless hex bolts in to replace the chrome plates ones. Lots of wires to pull back under the tank.
Tomorrow will wire in the harness for the headlamp and make brackets for the blinkers. Then the nakeding is done.

It does. 7 inches. I like how big it looks.
Both my XJ650 and SR500 had 9 inch ones. Back then they threw out a mean beam of light.
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
Its the small brackets i'm not used to .Mmm might look good on mine .

I spent some time looking for brackets. Most looked cheap and nasty. I really liked the minimal look of these brackets. Makes the headlamp stand out even more which is the look I wanted.
I got these from http://stores.ebay.com.au/C-J-Accessories I have bought some of his stainless steel bolts before. He is a good seller.
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
My old mate has a streetfightered Bandit, He made a fly screen out of an old Bandit 1200 screen with some alloy brackets which hides the electrics and the back of the instrument cluster. He has an aftermartket cluster which is much smaller though

I really do not want any flyscreen if I can get away with it. One of the reasons I painted the white underside of the instrument pod black.
It has been mentioned to me that maybe the instrument pod on the "S" is not water proof?
Re: Stripping off. It is DONE!!!
I like the look of those brackets too Ross. Nice choice. Will be interested to hear your report on how she feels to ride now.
