Dyno Fuckup
I took my bike and new in the box F I Tuner to Dyno time in Wangara today for a dyno tune. Long story short he had trouble splicing the correct wires into the F I Tuner, cut them, tried to solder them and in the end said I need to take it to a bike electrician to get a new wiring harness before he can Dyno it. He blamed the F I Tuner, saying the splicing/joining box was too small for the wires and cut them so it's my fault for buying a crap unit.
Then he wanted $250 for the days efforts and got nasty with me when I didn't pay it.
I think HE should pay the costs to have the harness fixed, am I wrong?
No Dyno, Tacho doesn't work, and 2 places I approached to fix it, don't want to know about it.
Any Perth people Know of a place?

If you haven't already post in as many WA forums as you can.
This character shouldn't be in business.
Stitch him up for any costs you cop in repairing his fuck up!

Dhula is the man. Wires just need to be rejoined and then start again. What sort of Tuner is it? If it's Healtech It's not hard to fit.

Get onto a consumer affairs outfit right away. Tell them exactly what happened and see where you stand. This is BS.

Re: Dyno Fuckup
That is just crap IMO.
It's 2 wires that need splicing and taking one out (the O2 sensor) of the plug from memory
I think I still have the instructions here somewhere but am short on time this morning to check. Won't be back home till ~5pm
Take a pic of the cock up area if you can so I can see if I can work with it.
If the bike is rideable (sounds like it is) and you have the time, bring it down here over the weekend and I'll see what I can do for you. No promices or garentees mate, but I'll look and do what I can for you.
IMO don't diss the dude on the forums as he is well known and held in high regard by a lot of people (rightly or wrongly) and it could end up a slanging match between you and he plus others.
Don't pay him, get it fixed (should hopefully be simple from the sound of it) and go somewhere else to get the runs done if you want that.

I wouldn't be happy either. Take pictures and ring consumer affairs and tell them the story, surely he has to pay to fix or replace the wiring.
BTW Dhulas a good bloke so it might be worth taking him up on the offer to fix the issue.

Re: Dyno Fuckup
Just had a look at the pics and main concern would be what is under the heatshrink nearest the ECU plug. Has he just put heatshrink right up to the plug or has he cut right at the plug.
If he has left himself short of wire (which is what it looks like from the pics) then it can still be fixed just might take a bit more effort and possibly getting new pins.
Very hard to tell tho.
The other joins doesn't look real flash either IMO.
Do you still have the plug cover for the bikes OBD connector (the black one the FIT plugs into)
I don't have the fitting instructions here anymore (if you ahve them as a pdf can you send em my way). I'll see if I can work out if he has used the correct wires. Healtech use a slightly different way of numbering pins compared to suzuki

Re: Dyno Fuckup
I have a brand new FI Tuner still unopened if you need the instructions, plus I have the Healtech PDF's.
I also grabed a copy of what Step_Andy wrote back in Jan 2011 (link)
I haven't done the install yet, but reading through Andy's how to, installation couldn't be any more simplier:
Step 1 - open packet
Step 2 - plug in connector
Step 3 - splice into the two identified wires on ECU plug
Step 4 - have fun
Well a little more than that of course, but wiring up a Stebel Horn is more complicated than this, your tuner must of had a pretty bad day to have messed this up. Good luck getting it sorted.

Re: Dyno Fuckup
Thanks Dhula, I found a sparky to look at it tomorrow am, so I'll see what he has to say, several didn't want to know and told me "not interested mate" when I told them the story. I'm not slagging anybody just telling the truth.
Hey Reddog, Yeah I rang consumer protection today who told me what I must do.

Re: Dyno Fuckup
Hi Dhula, I gave it to an auto electrician in Maddington who was willing to do it, he didn't think it was a drama. He said it will be a couple
of weeks while he sources the pins. And on another note you were right about the other forum, people did jump in on both sides to the extent
they've put a lock on the topic, it seems he has a lot of friends. He replied to my email I sent about consumer protection saying the Healtech FI tuner
was cheap with crude electrical fittings and I should be contacting them not him.
It's a pity I cant relay this information on the other forum but as I said they've locked me out.

Re: Dyno Fuckup
I may have a source and PN for the pins (not OEM tho)
I'll see what I can find in the info I have
Write to HT and see what they have to say on the matter and cc dynotime in on all your corro as they did suggest it/open that line of inquiry.
Did dynotime install the FIT in line with the instructions provided by HT or did they do something different.
I thought that HT provided some sort of joiner like a posi-loc or similar to splice into the wiring harness, not wirecutters, solder and heatshrink. (I'll not comment on what I think is better)
Mate with what you've told us and what I've read, dynotime attempted an install, cocked it up and have now cost you time and money in repairs. Fair enough you didn't pay for the work they did (rightly or wrongly) but in my uneducated opinion they at least owe you something for dicking you around a bit
