My GSX1250FA Scottoiler Install
Evening all,
Well after a ride this morning I got home and had a box full of new accessories and though hummmm might have a crack at installing the Scottoiler. Yesterday I did the screen and rad guard which while the screen cause some angst was easier than the oiler. I was extremely nervous about this install as I am far from mechanically mined. I mean far from it
There is three quarters of bugger all room to place the reservoir and I wanted it as vertical as possible - KEWWIG has his snuggled down the side by the front of the battery and I wanted to follow that example.
So I took a few pictures as I did it. Worse part, Cutting the vacume pipe lol its a brand new bike and I did not want to F@ck it up, best part watching the oil drip onto the chain and sprocket at the end

I'm getting the hang of it Gus, mind you I think the picture program I use needs a spell checker and ability to view the text you type....
Seriously think I'll practice on the chainsaw before I even consider the shims and Cam thingy...

Re: My GSX1250FA Scottoiler Install
ASyou can see we are impressed .Trivial but a space between pics works well .
The hugger .Is it made from the same material as the side covers (soilid plastic ) or more like the rear mud guard (bendy ,slimy plastic like a plastic
milk carton ) ?

Cheers Gus I was just trying to save space in case there was an extra charge Spaces now added.
The hugger is plastic and not flexi at all - yes very much like the feel of the side covers. I suspect it may have fibreglass in it too as on the underside its has a strand (raised pieces) type coated face look and feel.
I think it would look stunning if it was done in carbon fibre, maybe a dark blue carbon..
Re: My GSX1250FA Scottoiler Install
Thanks for the great install directions and pics.
With the single oil outlet from the oiler, how does the oil get to the other side of the chain (I mean on the links of the chain towards the centerline of the bike?).

Re: My GSX1250FA Scottoiler Install
I've had one on mine for ages and the oil gets across the links no problems. Every now and then I give the chain a squirt with Dupont Teflon lube. In 26,000 km there's no visible wear on chain and sprockets and it never needs adjusting

Update - Scotoiler
Hey there Team,
Just a quick update. I've just returned from a quick sprint down to the South Island, and of course I had to take the bike.
I can report back that the oiler worked/ works very well, It does reach the entire surface and edge of the chain. How it does it, well no doubt there is some sort of hydraulic action taking place or maybe it just magic I'm not sure but I can tell you its bloody fantastic not to have to remember to oil your chain every 4 to 6 hundred ks.
Funny story about the post install.
After I fitted the oiler I only ran the bike in a static position and never road tested her. I got called to attend an urgent family matter in the South Island, some 500 odd ks away including a ferry crossing. Well I left home at 1 in morning and had a clear run into town at the first set of lights I stopped and immediately saw a beautiful plume of blue smoke rising out from the engine and thought 'fark' what have I done while installing the oiler......
I had visions of the bike catching fire and really fluffing my day and trip up. As I pulled into the Ferry Terminal I had slowed to a craw just enough to vent the bike, removed my helmet, gloves and had the key to the top box in my hand to get the fire extinguisher immediately when I stopped. ..
When I stopped I launched myself off the bike grabbed the extinguisher and raced to the side of the bike - nothing not even a hint of a smell of burning oil... Curious I thought. I took the seat off and inspected the insides. There was a nice shiny coat of oil over the main stand, abs unit and on the oiler reservoir, as I was looking at the oiler I noticed that the oil delivery tube to fill the oiler blew back a bit of oil.
Turns out I may have over filled the bloody thing and it was spilling out onto the pipes. There were maybe 15 truck drivers pissing themselves with laughter as they watched me inspecting the bike. A tad embarrassing , but as they say better to be safe than sorry
Note to self - Never over fill a Scott Oiler!!!

I followed the instructions but think that my generosity allowed it to flow back up the delivery tube when the pressure came on. Its been working well since that initial incident.

All good. Wondered where you'd got to.

Yeah the bikes filthy after riding round Canterbury. The lower fairings are coated in liquefaction, so tomorrow will be a bike cleaning day. Went for a ride out to Sumner and just about turned back as the suspension was getting a hammering.
Fork Brace arrived while I was away so will fit that and torque it up tomorrow as well. Will take some pictures.

Hi Rustic.
I am new to this Forum and came across your Scottoiler install instructions. Unfortunately the pics that you posted are no longer there. I have just bought a 2011 GSX1250FA here in NZ and bought a Scottoiler vSystem at the same time and hoped your pics may help me make a decent job of it.
Are they still available?
