Grumpy tribute
Ok guys,i know most of us did not go to Grumpy`s Funeral.I have seen pictures and it looked like a great day although not for good reasons.
I would like to ride down and pay tribute to the Great Man in person. The missus wants to come along too so we are going to plan a weekend.
I have been talking to Ash in act and he is in already.I did not realise how far down south it is but this is for Grumpy so an overnighter it is.
According to Google it is a 6 hour trip for me so frequent stops will be on the cards, the girl`s bum goes numb.My thoughts are to leave 1 Saturday and stay overnight somewhere,go to Grumpy`s grave on the Sunday and leave from there.
I cannot count how many funerals i have been to for fellow bikers but they are not pretty especially for the loved ones left behind.
I need to do this for myself to thank Grumpy for all his advise and good humour and to wish him well on the great highway in the sky.
Jeez that last bit sounds lame lol.
SO BE IT.
Anyone game for the ride?
Dates will be organised i am sure to suit everyone who is coming.
Having said that, there is no rush either cause the great man is not going anywhere. He is now resting.
Besides,it might take a while to get the plaque put on his grave so a later date would be good.
Ride safe gentlemen

Re: Grumpy tribute
Sounds like a plan. I'm up for it. I may be able to put a few people up in the Bega Valley (if that suits) as I have an old farm house down there that I'm renovating. The feasibility of that will depend on the numbers who sign up. Ther's not much bedspace but if you packed a sleeping bag and mat you'd at least get a roof over your head, a shower and a BBQ. I'm good most weekend dates except last weekend in Feb (WSBK ride).

Re: Grumpy tribute
Good one Baz, I was hoping you would come along.
I think timing is flexible so we should be able to make it work.
Top marks to Bruiser for coming up with the idea.
I have pics of Grumpy's funeral service, but am still trying to work out how to post them. I fkn hate computers - bring back the abacus!
Bruiser, if it helps you could ride to Canberra the day before and crash at my place - plenty of room here for you and the missus - and then head from here as a group with Ewok and I.

Re: Grumpy tribute
These are a selection of photos that Mrs Grumpy sent through to Grover. Hope you don't mind me doing the posting mate - one day I'll train you up.
As far as dates for the above mentioned ride go I am good for 11-12 Feb or 18-19 Feb or after WSBK if that suits the group better.

Re: Grumpy tribute
Ewok, Thanks for posting the photos. Mrs Grumpy (Judy) kindly sent them to me in one of the PMs I sent her following the passing of our good mate. I did look at your tutorial on posting pics and decided I would try to tackle it this weekend. Judy did give me specific permission to post the pics on the forum. Thanks for saving me the effort and frustration. I refuse to unwillingly participate in the technological revolution!
Now back to the ride. I am good with either dates proposed by Ewok. So it looks like we meet up somewhere (maybe The Gong?), ride down the coast, overnight at the Ewok Ranch with a visit to Grumpy's grave at Bermagui on the Sunday morning (as originally proposed by Bruiser). Then on the Sunday ride back up the coast, splitting off where we need to. Happy to discuss.
A big hand to Bruiser for proposing the idea of this ride and to Ewok for offering a place to stay. I want to go and say my goodbyes to Grumpy.

Re Grumpy tribute
from what i am getting from pm`s and other messages we are trying too hard
suggestion.next month
bhoffo would be in and boatz has got bowling this month.he does want to come
the wsbk is on later in the month so maybe march might be best
i want to have all who want to come to be able without upsetting the applecart so to speak.
let`s go back to the drawing board and come up with another date shall we?
i`ve also asked narco (rob) as well but no reply as yet.
the longer the planning the better the outcome
sit tight gentlemen. it will happen

Re: Grumpy tribute
I agree with Bruiser. Lets hold off a bit until we get a few more along.
I know some guys are doing the WSB trip later this month, so lets do it after that.

I'm committed whatever the date before or after WSBK. Please see earlier post re the need to bring sleeping bag, etc for Sat night at the ranch (we're not talking 'hotel' here!).

Sounds good to me...love to come along (where are we going?)...
I'm overseas just now, back on Aussie soil next week then to the Wsb at the Island... at this stage I'd be thinking that I'll be available most weekend from mid-March...

Re: Grumpy tribute
Let's get a firm commitment then on the weekend of 17-18 March, the trip along the lines of the plan Grover explained above. Sat night in the Bega Valley (Bemboka-Candelo region) at the ranch.
Things to sought:
* I can put all bikes under cover for the night - new shed.
* There is 4.5kms of dirt (gravel) road to my ranch - I'm not responsible for the quality of the roads!
* BYO grog (but I don't even need to tell you that!) - there is no bottleshop 'around the corner' (ie within 20kms) down here so, as the Scouts say, 'be prepared'. We might drink a bit extra for Grumpy so don't get caught short.
* I can only offer 3 spare mattresses so be prepared to bring BYO sleeping bag/lilo, inc pillow - PM me and I'll let you know.
* If you score a mattress, still think about sleeping bag and pillow!
* Bring a towel (please don't tell me on Sat night you don't have one - zero sympaphy applies!)
* A contribution towards dinner and breakfast would be appreciated - a notional $10 per head? If this is an issue, better PM me.
* No surprises - if I don't know you're coming, you're not staying (irrespective of above rules - not negotiable, sorry).
I'm looking forward to this - it should be a great memorial ride and a bit of fun.

Re: Grumpy tribute
Sounds good. I will check with the Mrs, but should be good.
I will bring a camp mattress, sleeping bag and plenty of grog.
What is the plan with food? Buy some stuff for a bbq on the way to the ranch?
Oh, who is organising the strippers? Only out of respect to Grumpy, of course.

Due to logistical challenges, you will have to provide the entertainment. I'm sure that with enough make-up, no one will know the difference
