steering damper
after a long ride yesterday avro...in pretty high winds Im wondering if a steering damper is the go for my 1250 bandit..the steering felt a little skittish in the high wind to be honest but ive just come from a very large cruiser that was well planted .
anyone use a damper ?..if you did could you tell me what one you went for

Re: steering damper
G'day Thomson. No need for a steering damper, the only time mine needs one is if I get a little too anxious on the throttle on corner exit. Remember your cruiser probably weighed another 100 kgs on a bandit.

I've ridden in some quite severe winds and got pushed around a bit - not something a steering damper would fix though. Tommo, you might want to check the tyre pressures. If the front is a few psi low, the bike will likely feel like it's trying to 'flop' into corners (almost like the front is over-steering into the corner). That feeling can lead you to think a steering damper is the fix.

Re: steering damper
steering damper will only really come into effect when the front wheel is lifting under speed, and the steering crosses up then plants, and starts the process of tank slap

Re: steering damper
thanks for the replies..Ill take a look at the tyre pressures..yep the cruiser was 320 KG dry
I had another good ride today..I think its a settling thing.the bike felt much better today..not as windy and a rider that's getting used to the bike Im loving the seamless power..but how the hell do you keep your license on these things...it dont like the crappy hwy speed limits we all endure

Good job then that you didn't get hooked on a Busa - much harder so I'm told to keep it restrained, given it will readily pass 200kmph with another 100 to spare.
