Exhausts.......
Not wanting to start up another "which is best ' thing ,but seeing as the volume of air coming out of the headers (Extractors excluded ) on all
bikes is exactly the same .How much difference can there really be IN SOUND with different cans ? An in line 4 carn't sound like a V-twin by using a
different can ,can it. (sorry)
I really have no idea what my bike sound like at 8 grand in 3rd .IM on it with a helmet on leaving the sound behind .I look at nice ($$$) cans and
when they start up sound a little disappointing ,a bit like a ($) can .
I'm thinking we all sound pretty well the same , so buying because A sounds better than B is useless .A twin can set up could be interesting though .
Brand names have deliberately been not used , lets keep it that way .

Re: Exhausts.......
And further. Someone’s pleasant sound with be thought of as crap by someone else.
The Bandit has a deeper note than the FZ. Both CF cans. Both 4cyl. Both nice but I know which one sounds better to me on song.
Different crank timing, firing order, cam profiles, header construction and design and materials all contribute to different notes. Not better or worse just different because its subjective. Dyne runs will show a difference because it’s something measureable.

Re: Exhausts.......
I dont know if sound is one of the underlying factors when selecting an aftermarket can. I'm pretty sure that we all know that they will all sound better than the std one, but it would be almost impossible to test a variety of cans before you bought. I think it comes down to other factors such as make, material, shape, and size. And of course price. JMO.

Standard system on my 1200. I am enjoying how much less noise it makes compared to the full Staintuned BMW R100LT which boomed ever so loud.

Its called lack of magic beans and the fact I really don't want to fiddle around with carbs and rejetting. Just want to ride the thing. The BMW was every second day being fiddled to keep it going. I am so over that sort of thing at the moment. So bog standard will do me for the time being.

Re: Exhausts.......
I'm all for adding a bit of noise (but not obnoxious like some of the Harley mob seem to go for). The R77 on the Bandit gives a hint of menace at idle and delivers on that promise as the revs rise. I like that. Have no idea if it is substantially different though to any other brand - I bought the R77 Carbon fibre because I liked the style of it - I hadn't heard one on a Bandit prior to purchase so the sound wasn't an issue in my purchase. I also liked the look of the Akropovic but it cost more that I was prepared to spend. If (when) it wears out, I'll buy another. I assume bike cans, like all mufflers, have a limited life.

Re: Exhausts.......
I justified the R77 CF on a completely different reason to she who must be obeyed. I kept burning holes on the inside of my right trousers as I pushed the bike & sidecar back after a ride.
The other half was forever patching my pants, so I convinced her the built in pipe guard would stop the poly trousers from melting
Mind you at $20 for the trousers and $650 delivered for the can the finances don't exactly match up
BTW the sound (yes it is definately different from the BW that was on it when I bought her) and looks are superb. The black CF matches well with the other pieces including the dark tint screens and soon a Corbin backrest with CF (fake look alike) back plate. And no more ventalation holes in my cheap pants.

Re: Exhausts.......
I bought mine mainly because I wanted a short CF can and the Beowulf was popular on Euro Bandits and well priced delivered here.
The bonus was that its 9kg lighter the the stocker and lets the engine spun up quicker with a very minor loss of bottom end which I'm used to now.
I knew it would sound better (to me)

If I was to change the muffler I would fit either a Staintune
or a Yoshimura.
Reading about this muffler it is not for street use.

They are not that load, All Yoshi pipes have the "FOR CLOSED COURSE COMPETITION USE ONLY" sticker on them. Put that sticker in the same bin as the other stickers, Like "READ THE OWNERS MANUAL BEFORE RIDING"FUTURE aka Ross wrote:

I'm only looking at the Staintune why; Made in Australia, bike specific, has correct mounting points, no ugly riveted on badges, no ugly wrap around strap. is street legal if baffle is left in.
3 things stopping me; price, effect on Suzuki warranty, effect on Insurance.
Insurance and warranty I need to look into further

Lucky you only have to please you
Warranty wont be voided if you have a reasonable dealer.
Insurance will love you because they are cheaper than original. Just notify them of the change.

Re: Exhausts.......
Did you re use the woven gasket on the link pipe? I did and the pop n crackle isn't excessive because air snt being sucked into the middle of the system. I'm sure my pop and crackle is from the much shorter muffler.Jimcoleman wrote:I put a remus on, its got a great note plus really improved power but ??? its knocked the shit out of my fuel economy say to tune of about 50 ks i reckon plus i am bit concerned about the back off gurgle and pop, is that going to damage the motor at all ????
Your engine is safe by all accounts though. Your fuel economy shouldn't have suffered by 15%

Re: Exhausts.......
I fitted a set of Dale Walker's headers mated to a Racefit Growler on a mate's bike. He likes the PAIR left as is, so it sounds like gunfire on the overrun and is LOUD. Too loud for me. I have a Yoshi TRS on standard headers (Stage II) and a lot of the sound you can hear when accelerating is induction noise from the open airbox rather than noise. The Yoshi sounds good and really howls.

Re: Exhausts.......
after talking to some mechanic mates they say ive got the bike breathing better from the exhaust but not from the air cleaner advised to get an k&n. so will get that sorted can someone explain the pairs where is it and what does it do. As with kewwig the novelty of the gurgle has worn off so if i can get rid of backfire on back off i be really appreciate
