Louder horn
Any suggestions on improving the horn, had an incident yesterday & needed to let someone know I wasn't happy with their driving skills or should I say lack of and gave them a blast. Bit disappointed with the result & don't blame them for ignoring me. Searched for a thread on improving the volume or upgrading the horn as I thought I had read one here not that long ago. Any suggestions; I was considering buying a 2nd hand car horn from a wreckers, would that work?

I got one of those Stebels off ebay. Great horn, very loud, and I mounted it up under the front of the fairing where you cant see it. Was cheap too. About $15 I think.

I wouldn't mind a louder horn, although my new yoshi seems to make driver more aware of my presence, but I ride a naked so can't hide the new honker.

Re: Louder horn
For ~$15 you can get a 100dB horn from supercrap/repco.
Not sure what the stock one is but might be worth a try

Re: Louder horn
Thanks for the info, the Stebel on ebay seems the go are there any wiring issues, can I just connect the new horn using the existing terminals? (Not too good with electrics unless they come with very clear pictures etc)

Re: Louder horn
It looks similar, only mines red. Easy to fit and if you mount it up front on the "S" models, the wires will reach. It is bloody loud.

I found these Stebel horns as well:
ebay horn
Smaller, possibly lighter and 133db. Anyone tried them? Do you need a relay for the bigger horn?

Re: Louder horn
Well after being blatently cut off by a cager yesterday (no indicator just straight across infront of me like I wasn't there, probably within 2m) and the horn on the bike was screaming but no reaction at all from the driver - it's now time to fit a Nautilus compact. Audio equivalent to a MAG58 - dhula knows what this is. Grumbles under breath... deaf cage driving pr!cks. F-U. This'll wake ya up. (evil undertone laugh hehehehehehe....)

Re: Louder horn
Just finished installing my new Stebel "Magnum".
Found a spot under the left side of the fairing up out of the way, great improvement over the standard piss weak tweeter.
No fancy wiring required plugged straight-up to the existing connectors.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.
Just waitin for someone to step out of line now.

You will love the reaction the first time you press it and scare the shit out of the cager

Re: Louder horn
I NEED a video camera to capture that moment when cager thinks, "WTF!" and their rectum goes from 5 cent to 50 cent and back again a few times!
Priceless!
I used the two existing threaded points of the RH side under the fairing that are used on the nudie version for those side cowls. Piece of steel strip about 120mm long x 20mm wide with 3 bends to it. The horn fits just nicely in there. I'll take pics and post up. I used the optional wiring kit with relay. Hey it cost $10 extra so why not.
Update: visited my old Dad today. Talk ended up about cars and bikes 'n stuff. Couldn't resist a demo of the Nautilus.
I was reaching for the phone to dial 000 - I reckon he nearly needed a defib.
