Throw over soft panniers??
Am looking for luggage (panniers) for a run to Perth early in the new year and am considering soft luggage. Has anyone used anything like these?
http://www.enduristan.com.au/en/products/monsoon.html
I'm looking at something I can use on more than one bike (for when I get back) and these don't need frames, but I'm thinking the pipe on my 1250FA might be in the way. If anyone has any pointers for good options for the GSX, would be appreciated.

throw over soft panniers
I`ve used rjays soft panniers a few times ( they have adjustable straps ) & they will just clear this bandits exhaust (not sure about your model you might have to try some on ). They were waterproof etc & held quite a lot of gear . You can also buy some that taper up at the back for more exhaust clearance . The only thing is if you take a pillion you will need to put some padding over the straps or they aren't the most comfortable things to sit on for any period of time .

Thanks Paul,
Re pillion, yes thinking an airhawk for that aspect. Trying a set on would be nice but alas in Darwin no such luxury. Its buy before you try, and its always interstate or o/seas, so unless model specific listings, then is a bit of a gamble and falls into the "some modification required". Hence trying to narrow down the uncertainty factor.
Cheers,

Some soft panniers can go under the seat, of course this means you can't just lift them off when you get to your destination

I should have added, that we'll be doing the 10,000km round trip -two up, so looking at something in the 60litre (30 per side) range and up.
Gus are your ventura ones in that size range?
Thanks all.

Thanks Paul,
Yep I know Richard at Alicross, I doubt they'll keep in stock but I'll have a chat with him next week.
Found some Motodry ones today that looked ok also. Cyclone Motorcycles (ex Precision Honda) are getting the larger touring set in for me to try on the bike. I take back what I said in earlier post about not being able to sample the goods. These guys understand customer service.

throw over panniers
I got some "bags connection" sports panniers, they open up to 42lts, have bar system that comes off with a push of a button, the only thing is the postage to au is about $90. Got them from www.twisted throttle.com the ideal thing is to buy all the stuff you need a once not like I did. I got mirror extenders, oxford heated grips($80), the panniers, mra tinted screen with deflector ($150) but did so in two deliveries DOH. The only other thing is you have to apply some of the clear tape guard on some off the body work, easily done

Re: Throw over soft panniers??
Thanks for the opinions all.
I found some 42 litre MotoDry throw-overs at Cyclone Motorcycles up here. They were also good enough to get some 66 litre ones in for me to try on the bike also (support these guys - they do good!!), but when I tried them on they sat too close to the heater for comfort so I went with the smaller ones. Fit well, locate securely. Hardest part of fitting was applying some semi permanent skinz to protect the paintwork.
Bill.

Paul - things changed last week after my last post and I've now got two passengers.... - so its 4 wheels now unfortunately. Still welcome to tag along tho - happening mid March. Am now thinking maybe a run to Broome sometime in the Dry. That run through the Kimberley is always nice.
