Holeshot Headers
I installed a set of Holeshot headers made by Dale Walker on a friend's K9 Bandit. Also installed a TFI, K and N, removed the airbox back, removed the secondaries to make it a stage III setup. The headers are a lot lighter than standard and a lovely piece of kit. Great welds and a perfect fit. He has the factory lower fairing and a bit of surgery may be needed there as the headers come out further than stock. He's also got a Racefit Growler fitted. The bike makes a deep growl now! He's a very happy camper.

Mate, You gota film it and post it on youtube. I would love to hear it.... Please
Re: Holeshot Headers
They do look the Biz. The originals are so heavy. Well on my 1200 they are, and I dont imagine they changed much for the 1250.

Re: Holeshot Headers
On my bike I have a Yoshi TRS with standard headers, PAIR blocked and Stage II. It sounds nice. He likes the backfire on the overrun and didn't want his PAIR blocked. With his setup and the open Racefit Growler it is very loud and I personally think it's too noisy and attention grabbing. Fine on the track but not on the streets and I personally think it would be a better setup with a larger volume can like a Yoshi or similar. On the overrun it sounds like an open pipe (I guess it is, really), and whilst he loves it, I wouldn't recommend that silencer over your neck of the woods, or you will end up with the cops all over you.Reardo wrote:Mate, You gota film it and post it on youtube. The headers and a Yoshi would be great. I will try and get some video of it. I heard him accelerate up the motorway behind my place and it sounded like....well.....a Bandit with an open pipe. Loud!
I didn't weigh the things but they are very light and not a heavy lump like the stockers. I haven't ridden it yet as we ran out of time, but I will follow up and see how it compares to my stage II

They must have cost a bomb for freight? I looked at a set of Holeshot headers but the freight was a killer. The Arrows were much easier on the wallet, as they break down into bits and fit in the average sized box. (Slip fit).
It will be interesting to see what you reckon about the benefits of the headers & stage 3 settings. Your seat of the pants dyno?

Nothing wrong with the Arrow headers. Mine have been brilliant and look awesome. Not many people looking at the bike actually know it has a full race system

Hey Jaba
Dunno what he paid for shipping. I'd say probably close to a grand landed. Personally for the money I'd rather put it into re-springing and re-valving the front end as I run out of handling (and personal ability) well before I run out of power. If I wanted power I'd get a B King or a Hayabusa, but then I haven't the luggage and the ABS. The Bandit gives me plenty of everything as we all know well.
Do you know if anyone has fitted the Arrows with the factory lower fairing on a GSF? (You don't count with a GSX as they differ).
There was a moment's confusion about the TFI settings as I was comparing them to mine, but of course with the headers it's a Stage III and different again.
I haven't ridden it yet to compare as we ran out of time (I had to put a new gear position switch on another Bandit 1250 so there were 3 in my drive at one point). He tells me it's literally hold on and pray compared to what it was, so if he's happy, so am I.
I think I am in the wrong job. I like modifying bikes, but unfortunately there's no money in it here.

You need to go down to the Kawaka shop and test ride a Z1000SX Ninja. Buy one and then I can borrow it from you in December to carve up some bends!
I am used to my setup now, it does pulls pretty strong all the way through the revs now. It would be interesting to ride a stocker again to compare.
As far as the fairing clearance goes, just let it melt it's way into shape. Worked for me . I put some heat shielding around the close spots but in the end it just modified itself to fit.

Re: Holeshot Headers
To follow on this post, the owner of the bike I modified had it dyno'd today at 130hp.
I have taken a stock 2010 model, removed secondaries, fitted K and N filter, O2 bypass, Dale Walker's TFI and his headers. A Racefit Growler was already fitted as the muffler (not that it muffles). 130hp is a pretty impressive gain over stock.
He loves it, and I enjoyed doing the work. He had a bit of a low speed surge which we sorted last week with a throttle body sync (the TPS was spot on).

That's probably the bike Suzuki should have built.kewwig wrote:To follow on this post, the owner of the bike I modified had it dyno'd today at 130hp.

Mine go's on the dyno next week. A 130hp would be nice.

Next time he brings it round I will film it. It needs the gear position sensor cleaned so I will film it and post it on my blog

Hey Reardo
Finally got him to bring it round. I asked him to give it a wee rev and he just opened it and sounded light an old fighter taking off. The sound isn't really captured all that well by my camera, but you will get the idea. We stopped pretty quick before upsetting the neighbours.
This is the bike I have got 130.8hp out of and I have just posted the dyno pull at https://nswbandits.forumotion.net/t2244p45-b1200-vs-b1250
I don't personally like all that noise as it just pisses people off and draws unwanted attention.

Was that the rev limiter operating at the end?

yes, before I told him to turn it off. Rev limiter under load is OK, but not just sitting there

Re: Holeshot Headers
Hi, I'm interested to know if the headers have be removed to change the oil filter??? As some of the race systems require you to remove two of the down tubes to remove the oil filter! Thanks.
