Hello fellow bandits
Hi All
Just picked up my 2005 GSF1200S Bandit this morning.
Am upgrading from a Suzuki GS500 05 model.
The 1200 is still scaring the pants of me, especially today in the wet but feels like the perfect bike for my commuting needs.
Joined the forum to get some advise and read the product reviews mainly. Still allot to learn about riding as I've only had the license for a bit over a year...

Re: Hello fellow bandits
I'm in Brisbane, a few minute from the CBD... A few minutes by car anyway, with this crazy awesome bike I reckon it could be done in a few seconds....
Thanks guys. Looking forward to do some upgrades over time, really want some hard cases, panniers and top box etc but have no cash as just burnt it on the bike. Still can't believe I got a bandit for $5000. So happy....

Re: Hello fellow bandits
Welcome Chips.
Plenty of knowledge on here and the rest of us just make it up
If you have no open road sections of the commute you have just upgraded from a great commuter
The touring kit is a give away that you have other plans and thats fine but as a stop start commuter these aren't the best.
My opinion.

Hi Chips and welcome aboard. Careful with that right wrist in the wet. The Bandit will bite. Post up a pic of your new toy sometime. Enjoy.

Re: Hello fellow bandits
Yes, I'm working out slowly that these aren't the best for ONLY city riding.
But at least 50%, up to 80% of most of my trips involve freeway riding... I'm also a big guy, 6' 110kg so the GS500 would really need suspension if I was going to keep it long term. I also love the better braking power of the bandit.
I'm also looking to pick the wife up a helmet and do some runs up and down the coast when we can get a babysitter. Makes going out for dinner on the beach alot cheaper than the car... We drive a fuel guzzler...
On top of all of this, we are only staying in the city for another 12months till i finish my degree, then we are going rural and the nature of my work (child saftey) means i don't want to live in the area I'm working hence a long commute at high speeds hence the bandit....
Spent several weeks and rode many bikes before I choose. It came down to either a gsx750f or the bandit. I had given up trying to get a bandit for gsx750f money, but then this bike came up and my decision was made for me.

Welcome Chips,
Great choice, did you buy private or from a dealer because that was a great price.
Enjoy

Re: Hello fellow bandits
Picked it up from Teammoto at Bowen Hills
I was there on Monday and they weren't interested. Then they called me on Wednesday asking me to come in. We started at $5500 but I just kept saying no until they came down to $5000. I gave up at $5100 and just bought it. How could I say no at that price. I'll post some pics in a week or two when we get back from sydney and its had its first service and a bath.

the bike after returning home from uni and tennis... So nice being able to carry all of the gear on the rack and not my back, makes it so much more comfortable...

Yea. Planning on keeping it for a long time... I do between 15-20,000k's every year so won't take long to get up there...

hello fellow bandits
I do 20,000 + a year and bought an old car to go to work in during the shitty winter weather ( think I`m getting soft in my old age ) to keep the mileage down on the bike a bit cause I want to keep this one for a fair while . Having said that I`m glad the nicer weather is here & I`m commuting again on the bike to work & not just using it for weekend runs .

Hi, nice bike. 40000 ks is nothing, although when my dealer saw the 25000 on my immaculate 2010 1250, you'd swear his throat had been cut .

and before you all tell me to remove my number plate.....
It isn't the real one. I have personalised plates. These are the plates that came with the bike....
