Accessory Power Socket.
Bandit 1250S current model
I'm putting in a waterproof Haigh 12v socket and will most likely install on the left hand side of the flat black plastic part of the fairing just it front of the warning stickers. I simulated usage of different male plugs and cord hang. So it has to be up close to where the flat plastic goes vertical on the half fairing. May even put a smart looking small black on/off switch beside it as I have one spare in my shed.
Was about to drill the socket hole when I got nervous and decided to ask what peoples here have done.
I have seen my location done on similar bikes on Bikeshop floors.
Why I want a socket?, not for a GSP at this stage, but for small top up charges for the mobile when I'm at rallies in the bush.
Found the Haig item pictured to be quite well made partically re the protective cover and better than the one the bikeshop showed me. I didn't get to see a Trumpy accessory one.
Thanks in advance

I've seen them mounted to the top clamp. I'm pretty sure it was fixed through where it's slotted.
I've also seen one threaded through the cable retainer clips it looked ok there too but you would want to make sure it was stable and not flogging on the wires all day.

Re: Accessory Power Socket.
Hi, have been looking at them myself.
Have a look at these two site for some inspiration
www.3brpowersports.com/
www.bluerim.com.au/
Bluerim are Oz distributors for Powerlet products and they make a nice kit for bikes.
Cheers

The Bluerim stuff looks good
Re: Accessory Power Socket.
I've got a Powerlet socket ( from Bluerim ) mounted similar to what you are planning but on the right hand side and it blends in nicely IMO. I've got mine wired directly to the battery ( with an inline fuse ) as I use it to plug in a trickle charger.

Re: Accessory Power Socket.
Got my 2 lighter sockets wired up properly, ie via relay with waterproof fuse socket on battery side. I leave mine under the seat on my naked 2008 Bandit and just run them up the front of the seat when I need to, into a tank bag and I house my GPS and Phone is the bag. Easy - no mounts, no irreversible changes.

Re: Accessory Power Socket.
Thanks for the feedback - appreciated.
The web links info shows some good gear too, may even look at the right side, will sus that out too. But you always stand at a bike from the left so I will weigh up that one.
I'm self employed and work outdoors, so with the crap weather = no work. Think I will wire it up today out in the shed with a log fire going. Maybe "Easy Rider" on the big screen whilst I'm at it. (rambling now)
Direct to battery/fused and switched, no relay as I won't need hi power drain from ie, no spotlights for rabbit shooting.
But will still need to pop 2-3 panadols prior to the drilling, as that causes stress to the mind.

Thanks Kewwig,
Same spot I'm doing this arvo- looks Good and if the factory did that we wouldn't question it.

Re: Accessory Power Socket.
Being too shy to drill into the fairing I've mounted a small Powerlet socket from the left Instrument Cluster screw, haven't painted the bracket yet.
Although close, it doesn't foul with the forkes on full lock.
I've got another mounted on the left rear foot peg mount, this too is a Powerlet this time using their mount (it is about 2 mm thick and also comes with a spare 2mm washer for the other bolt to even up the installation. sorry about how dirty she is, been pretty wet lately.
Both outlets are wired back to a Eastern Beaver fuse block, certainly saves a lot of time using this when wiring in additional electrical components.

Re: Accessory Power Socket.
They look good Barry and I could afford a mount like that.
Does your bike actually corner with a rear Tyre in that shape?

Having a permently mounted training wheel the only time I get to travel off vertical is when I am scaring the c%$p out of myself and/or the missus.....
