Linkages and bearings.
I decided to check the L & B 's today for enough grease . The worst one was the top linkage rod bearings and sleeve .
Quite dry and wear showing on sleeve.( top )
Decided better check swing arm bearings along with the rest of of it .The two sleeves also showed wear.
Took about 2 hours to grease the lot .Should now be right for another couple of years .
Removal of foot peg brackets makes job easier

Taken me 3 years to realise those plastic brake line holders arnt one piece .You can push the brake line out of them .Who's to say build
quality will be better on something else without spending an extra $7 grand .Grease is cheap just a matter of putting it in there .
Yep ,hands back .

Re: Linkages and bearings.
Why didn;t you drill and tap a grease nipple whilst you were there
I looked at this job the other day, but I couldn't crack the bolts on the dogbones with my little 1/4" socket set, and the sockets for my 1" start at 19mm
Time to buy a half way kit. While I am there I might see about adding grease nipples if possible, makes the job very easy next time.

I did think about adding a gease nipple but you are going to have to pull some parts off anyway so not much of an advantage .2 hrs every 2 years
i dont mind taking it apart .It least i know the grease is going in the right place .

Re: Linkages and bearings.
If you dont find enough grease on the back (you wont )You know you will have to look at the front dont you.
THis is the top stearing head bearing as it came out ,not wiped with a cloth.
Yep ,no grease .
And the bottom one -the same
Add grease ,ahhh thats better
And the other one ,why are whey so stingy ,its only grease .
No need to take it all apart .Top bearing just sits in here .DRY isnt it!!!!!!
You only nee to drop the bottom brearing 2 in,
then put it all back . Took me 1 hr

Re: Linkages and bearings.
they do put a bit of grease on the bearings, but not much that is for sure. Grease costs money, takes up time on the production line and causes a bit of mess when you do it properly.
Greasing all the bearings up made mine feel nicer when I did it.
IMO should be a yearly thing to do. I tend to build it into my servicing schedule now
It's on the cards for the twins before the year is out, hopefully might even get to it before I get back to work (not likely tho)
