HPC Coating for Headers.
I hate the look of ageing, discoloured, rusty and brown headers. Came across an ad for High Performance Coatings and think that it may be a good $250 spent on my headers. Rang the local agent here in Brissy and spoke to " The Man ". He told me that they coat inside and out. Minimise corrosion. Reduce heat. Wont turn blue. And they will last up to 5 times longer. They even do internal engine parts, ie, pistons. Would like to hear from anyone who has had this type of coating done.

That's what I thought? Mine gets some discolouration on them - I think at some time while riding I've ridden through a puddle of something or a plastic bag has hit the pipe and burned onto it... I give it a polish every now an again with a bit of metal polish or very fine wet and dry (1200 or thereabouts)...comes up like a shiny new one.

OK sorry. Maybe not so much as rust. But even SS will deteriorate after time and excessive heat. I cannot post their website on here yet but google them for a look. Let me know what you think.

I’m pretty sure you’ll find they’re twin walled so coating inside won’t do jack.
If you have crap that wont clean off use oven cleaner then Autosol.
You could always go for full Arrow (or similar) headers.
Most of us like the straw colour they turn to if left unpolished but if that’s not for you look at options by all means.
If you have one turning blue that’s a sure sign of excessive heat (lean) but if they are all the same colour from normal engine running that’s fine.
EDIT: PHC LinkHere

Thanks for your thoughts guys. Mine are still like new. I would just like to keep them like that. The testimonials for the coating seems to speak for itself.

I think it's a great idea if you plan on keeping your bike for more than 4 or 5 years, I'm thinking of getting it done on mine only for the fact that once ceramic coated it won't show up those ugly stains that have a tendency of appearing on the cat.

Talk to Reardo. Apparently he's close to someone who de-catted the system. Thats the only way you will stop the "stain" which is a burn mark from the inside!
Trust me, mine was changed under warranty.
Re: HPC Coating for Headers.
$250 for ceramic coat is a waste. I'd just buy a set of headers.. yes they cost $800 but they look great and sound awesome. Did I mention they are 9Kg lighter

Thats a nice looking set of Headers Reddog. Did you need to have it tuned afterwards, or did the ECU do it itself ?

Re: HPC Coating for Headers.
I had it dyno'd before I changed the headers. I reckon it'd benefit from a dyno, but cbf'd forking out another $300 for dyno time.
...and yes they are an absolute work of art compared to the heavy OEM craptacular suzuki pipes.

Re: HPC Coating for Headers.
Sound similar to Mothers mag cleaner. Spray on and wash off. I might try some on my old headers to see if it works. Has Oxalic acid as the main ingredient, but works a treat on alloy etc.
