Fuel tank removal
Folks,
I just procured K & N air filter. In order to install it, I need to remove a fuel tank.
I removed the screws, lifted the tank and there are 1 couple, two fuel lines and a bigger hose.
Any tips how to disconnect the hoses et all without spilling fuel or doing any damage to the bike?
Cheers

If you go down to bunnings/mitre 10.what ever hardware store you have in town and get your self a piece of wood to support the tank while you undo all the hoses/connections it makes it heaps easier.
I use a piece that is 3" x 8" x 12" (it will make sense in a moment)
1. Undo the 2 tank securing bolts
2. Place 3" side of wood under tang at the back - note it is about as high as you can lift the tank without stretching hoses too far
3. Remove the tank breather and overflow hoses from the right hand rear of tank
4. Lift tank higher (you may have to slide the tank backwards a little) and place 8" side under tang
5. Remove fuel line (small amount of fuel will leak out, place rag over engine)
6. Disconnect electrical connection
7. Remove tank and place on floor/bench/wherever
Install is reverse of above

Re: Fuel tank removal
Thanks guys.
Instead of a piece of wood, I use my son, well actually he helped to hold the tank.
Nothing is ever simple. I just couldn't disconnect the electrical connector. It was so tempting to pull by the wires instead separating the plastic connections, but I resisted.
Ended up just disconnecting the breathing hoses and twisting tank sideways and managed to get required access to the air filter.
My mods now are complete:
Yoshimura slip on, K & N air filter, FI tuner pro, Givi top box and ultra white headlight lamps.
Not sure what's next.

Great to hear andy.
can do a review of the FI tuner perhaps as I think you are one of the first to sue it that I have heard of so far. Things like ease of install, how easy it was for the tuner to tune (and his/her thoughts), results etc etc.

Told you that connector was tight . It does lock together and you have to press a certain "tag" from memory. Give it a little wd40 spray
for next time .Good to see you found your 3rd hand . Looking forward to the pics, you all know i like pics.

I fyou reckon that connector is tight then try the connectors on the injectors. The PC3 had to piggy back off these and they were a right pain in the arse to get apart. Jewellers screwdriver and force did the trick though

Why do I have a mental image of Homer with a hammer and chisel working on his camera lens? .. "Careful... careful! Doh!"
I hate tight bolts, latches, clips and scews ... always ends in tears for me.
