Canberra & Region Riders - Bombala Lunch
Folks,
The plan is to have lunch at a pub in Bombala (seems to be a choice of 2), around 12.30pm. After lunch, ride over to Candelo, via Wyndham and Myrtle Mt, then Bemboka and finally, up the Brown and back to Canberra after lunch. Date planned is Saturday 17 September but some flexibility to adjust to suit circumstances. Plan would be to leave Williamsdale servo at 10.00am, stop for coffee at (say) Bredbo. Should be back in Canberra at ~5.00pm or a bit earlier. Post lunch route from Bombala to Bemboka is a beauty. Route is shown via this link.
Just let me know via reply post here if you're planning to participate.
Regards,
Ewok

I'm keen. My bike is in a thousand pieces at the moment, but should be back together by then.
That route is my favorite ride, looking forward to it very much. I haven't been through there since the big floods and heard Mt Darrah copped a real belting.

Bega valley Shire Council doesn't seem to be doing too much in the way of road repairs at the moment. I might even get a chance to survey the route between now and then just to make sure we know exactly where any trouble spots might be. The Myrtle Mt Rd is a hoot but looks like it would bite back if anyone was silly enough to be over-cooking it on some of the slower downhill corners.

Ewok
As per our discussion today, count me in for the ride on the 17th and if you want some company on the reccy run I will be there.
I can't wait. I have been suffering through 3 bloody viruses in the last month or so and haven't done many decent rides.

Re: Canberra & Region Riders - Bombala Lunch
Yes, still keen. The bike is all back together. I was going to go for a quick run to Nowra tomorrow for a longish ride. Only 50km so far, but feels great.
I'm on long service leave at the moment, looking after my 1 year old son. I'm able to get away for a ride during the week as long as my wife doesn't have a shift on that day, so I'm also keen to come along on a reccy run, whatever day suits.
Tony.

I'm still keen. I had planned to stay overnight in Canberra but that might mean I'll end up with a hangover .. so I'm happy to make a early morning start in Sydney.

Thats cool mate. Its a fair haul for you
Fuel Stop in Sale and again in Cann River would be the way to go for you.
Re: Canberra & Region Riders - Bombala Lunch
I reckon about 1100kms - 12 hours in the saddle all up. Ive done 950 kms in one day (5am-6pm), and that was on the Gixxer .

I'm game if you are (assuming fine weather) I'd be allowing just on 4hrs from Sale. That makes it about an 8am departure from here.
Re: Canberra & Region Riders - Bombala Lunch
so that would make the departure time from my joint .......8am subtract distance required, carry the 3 ......divide by ham n cheese toasted .......5am
....now who the hell leaves at 5am for a pub meal??

You apparently. If Ewok can nominate a slightly later lunch time you might get an extra 30 min sleep.
I have a leave pass so I hope its fine
