City Parking

here's an email i got from Sydney Council when i wrote to them about parking bikes [u might know this but i didnt]

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your email.

Motorcycle and Scooter riders no longer need to buy or display a ticket
in the City of Sydney, which includes the CBD, Pyrmont, Redfern, Ultimo,
Darlinghurst and Kings Cross. Simply park as you usually would, and
remember to observe the time restrictions. If you need to park all day,
use an untimed motorcycle-only space instead.

I'll continue to park on the footpath in Vic when and where I think its appropriate

Old thread, but this fits nicely here, there is a petition started by a NR from Qld requesting Brisbane City council to adopt Melbourne footpath parking, worth getting behind I reckon....

BCC Footpath Parking

Done ...............I think it should be law everywhere it is appropriate to do so.

Being a New South Welshman, I love Victoria.  
Spent a week in Melbourne, last week, just for a mini break. 
Food is awesome. Transport cant be beat. Cant get lost. Park your bike on the footpath. 
The Victorian Gov seems to spend a lot more of its revenue on the people, than NSW. 
If there's not a way to charge the motorcyclist to park on the footpath, I doubt that it will happen here. 
Hope it gets up in BrisVegas.

I've never seen the wording on the regs for Vic.

Do you know what the stipulation is on positioning so foot traffic is not obstructed?

Footpath parking
In Victoria, you can park your motorcycle on a footpath, unless there is a sign saying you can't.
When parking your motorcycle you must not get in the way, or block the path of pedestrians, delivery vehicles, public transport users or parked cars.

What's a footpath - can't even get a sealed road around here?  Send pics to Bega Valley Shire Council!

That would be the grassy bit next to the gravel but before you get to the cow shit Ewok 

And for us townies its the bit we have to maintain but the council doesn't.
