Thats not good .
I decided to paint the front 2 cover panels just below the front of the tank .The ones that have the 2 bits of mesh in them .I used black wrinkle
finish .This stuff likes a bit of heat to dry really hard . Every thing i have put in the oven for 10 mins to cure has worked well .
I put one in for 5 mins only to find it buckeled and all out of shape .In other words nackered.
Oh well another stuff-up, needed one LH. 09 front plastic cover thing .

Gus I humbly apologise for being too slow in confiscating your black paint as promised

Gus
Did you put the whole plastic cover in the oven or just the metal mesh bits?

The whole thing at low heat just to warm it .Obveiously not a good idea .I've never been a real fan of those covers especially in "pink".Just to
much of that colour for me .They are rather big as well.
Since it melted and its a total loss i looked at the space today and actually liked the look of the frame .Made up this tinny cover .
That will do till i get another cover or i may even do the other side ,without the melting part .

The top of the motor is too silver mate.. I reckon the cam cover could do with some "Black magic"
btw the mocked up cover looks alright, I'd do the other side

Pair removal is needed mate. Too much of that polution control mumbo jumbo on top of the valve cover.
TPO do a good removal kit as does Desert bandito (metrikmetal)
They come with plugs etc so you can get rid of the lot.

Its amazing how one job leads to the next .Those 2 brackets really should go (hold the old covers ) but if i cut them off there is no return .

I'm speechless. And that doesn't happen often.
What were you thinking.

Re: Thats not good .
Believe me it wasn't hot .Ive got a feeling the paint i put on reacted to to paint underneath ,then with a bit of warmth changed shape .
Not much but enough so things didn't line up .The paint needs heat to cure or stays tacky .Maybe the mesh heated and pulled it out of shape .
Never mind i like the new look ,if i could i only get a smaller radiator that works.
One thing ,front on, the bike looks so much slimmer without those covers .
Ive just "cooked " some pair block off plates i made .(alloy ) 3 times the heat 20 times longer and i could pick them up by hand .
If you post a lot you have more chance of saying something "wrong ". If you modify your bike a lot more chance of stuffing something up .
Better than being too worried to do either i reckon .
