A good road thats not so good anymore!
Just come back from Briz, after visiting family down there, and as my brother lives near Beaudesert, and I had a little time up my sleave, decided to ride out to Rathdowney, then on to Woodenbong return.
I haven`t been on this route since I road down to Philip 3yrs ago, and this is the way we came back, heading to Briz.
Back then, the prime part of this particular route, was the section from Woodenbong (far northern NSW beside the boarder line) to Rathdowney.
It used to be a beautiful tight winding stretch of about 40kms or so long. What a shock now, to find out, a lot of this stretch is now a SHOCKING piece of road, to the point of going into tight turns, that now buck you off on to the other side of the road, which on blind corners, and not knowing when your committed, that this is going to happen on the apex of the corner. Thank god (although I don`t believe him..personal choice) nothing was coming the other way.
One advantage I had though, was because of the full remote Wilbers shock, the return piece was a LITTLE better, not a lot, but after winding back the compression damping, and slightly increasing the rebound, absorbed the bumps better, and stopped the bucking.
I still didn`t get to enjoy the road for what it has been, and hopefully, will be again.
So if anyone is going that route be warned at the moment, for its condition.
John.

It's a bugger when a great ride becomes less than enjoyable due to lack of maintenance

a lot more than a few, I can remember when we were proud to have the best roads in the country, trouble is I don't think too many of them have been maintained properly since the 80's

No No.... we`ve got it all wrong. Council take good care of our roads, by increased rego and revenue.
We should be thankful at the way they look after our/their roads

in WA you can complain to main roads via a web form if a road is damaged or is in poor condition and needs fixing. Surely there is something similar in every state so you can make sure the roads are safe. It doesn't stop councils from conducting road works and leaving 2 inches of blue metal through a turn unfortunately.
