Bandit / Power Commander Mappings
I have just put a Power Commander (USB III) and K&N air filter onto my 2008 Bandit. I had fitted a Staintune can on it a while back as I like to hear the engine above 60kmh. I am currently running with the zero map on the Power Commander which is esentially the no modification base setting. I haven't been able to find a mapping for the combination of K&N air filter and Staintune can to install. Anybody out there have an appropriate map or can recommend a good map to use for that combination ??
Thanks

Here's a hint.

G'day. Go to Power Commander site and find the list of bandit maps & download one that is similar to your set up. Its Easier if you have a laptop to load the new map in to the pc3.

Reardo, I installed the map I thought was closest on the Power Commander site (the Micron can) but didn't notice any improvement and it drank a lot more fuel. So I reverted to zero map. I have seen quite a few bandits with Staintunes and thought there might be a map in Oz. Theres always a dyno tune I suppose.
Thanks Joe B

My bike has been running on one of those maps for 2 years. they do use more fuel. What mods do u have in detail ? If u only have a filter and slip on can and haven't opened the airbox lid, u probably don't need a new map or maybe just a fine tune to smooth thing out.
I didn't have a PC3 for just a filter & can.
Re: Bandit / Power Commander Mappings
I will try what you suggest i.e. apply the Micron map and do some fine tuning. I had heard you could iron out the snap/crackle/pop on overrun by some astute mapping. However, I have just read elsewhere on the forum that a simple mod of the pair hose will sort that. So I'll do that. Thanks for the advice, Reardo.

The pair mod is probably the simplest and easiest to do. it basically stops feeding fresh air into the headers which causes unspent fuel to ignite. good luck with the mapping. I have just order a kit from Holeshot, Dale walker sends you his mappings. I did look at the power commander but as i run Mac's no chance to use the software.

If you are going to take the tank off I recommend getting a pair removal kit. Metrickmetal.com has them, although I got mine from TPO they are a good bit of kit and gets rid of all that junk under the tank.
I have a PCIII and had it professionally tuned. It wasn't cheap, but the bike has run brillaintly ever since. You may ahve some luck loading other peoples maps, but I would be saving some pennies to do it properly.

Thanks Reddog. I have just coughed up for some new tyres, Pilot Road 3s. So I will have to wait until I replenish the coffers for the dynotune. It is on my to do list though. I am still playing around with the available maps from the Power commander site and strangely I am finding the standard pipe/aftermarket filter map most to my liking.

Re: Bandit / Power Commander Mappings
Mpottsy, the snap/crackle/pop always reminds me of the effect I would get years ago on my old 2-strokers if I'd stuffed up the carb and points tuning. So in the back of my head I subconsciously think "bad tuning" when I hear it. So the quick fix with the pair pipe is the go. When the time comes I'll look into the removal kit Reddog has recommended. Good luck with the Holeshot kit. Let us know how it goes.

Joe I know what you mean about the snap crackle and pop it does sound like its all out of tune. I have a TPO pair kit coming as well so hopefully my GSX will sound a little quieter, i might be able to run my scorpion with out the DB killer. I have also just fitted a new set of PR3's and am loving them i have also put in dynabeads which seem to be working well too.
