Now the Bandit's in the garage its time to plan a Chrissy present - luggage! Any suggestions re Ventura rack system vs Givi system, or alternatives? I want something simple, not too big (don't need panniers). I want it to fit behind the pillion seat with room for the pillion...

Mate I have a 35lt MotoDry seat bag ($130ish) and it holds enough of my stuff.
I replaced the straps though as they were a little short for the mount points.

Seriously the best Christmas prezzie you can get is a radiator guard! Over $1000 to replace one (so I'm told) Shocked Makes $160 look like a good investment.

IMO go the Givi top box.
I got mine thrown in when i got the bandit.
cost is about ~$500 all up for mounting hardware and top box i think.

If you have to use the pillion seat a top box is the only option.
Personally I like the cleaner look but if I was carrying stuff all the time I'd have a Givi Top Box.
I sold my pannier and box set that came with my bike after it took 5 months to arrive! Mad
Got $1000 for them still in the cartons. Made my bike even better value Laughing Laughing

keep your eye on eBay, luggage systems come up at good prices. At one stage Suzuki was offering a 'free' Givi system with 2 panniers and a top box, (I think?), and I have seen never fitted sets going for half price or less,

Cheers

When I bought my bandit the givi promo was on offer, the dealer gave me the choice of a ventura system which i prefer due to the lack of stuff when you are not carting a bag around. I had a ventura system on my last bike but opted for the rjays bag instead, i find it far better than the ventura bag. I have just returned from a 7 day trip away, the rjay bag was more than adequate in size.

I've got the 'traditional' Ventura rack and bag. Although there are times I wish I had a Givi Top box, just for security. The only thing is that I saw a couple B12's like mine with a Givi top box and to be honest it looked shocking.

I can supply Givi, I buy for wholesale; would need to put a small handling fee on top.
If interested let me know, I am on the contact list.

I personally don't like the look of the hard bags, topbox.(I think they are very practical though)
I am using the ventura rack with a small 2ltr bag for running around locally and a RJays 35ltr bag and a expandable magnetic tank bag for touring.
This has proven to be light and practical for my needs on trips with plenty of room. Also very easy to carry into your room.
Arrow I found that the use of a piece of NON SLIP rubber matting cut to shape protects the paint on the tank and also stops the tank bag moving around Very Happy (Available at hardware stores, cheap!light and easy to wash.)
