Sydney to Broken Hill..
Hi all.. I am currently working on a run to Broken Hill from Sydney in the first or second week of may. The more i probe this idea and get my head around it i am finding that i will require a lot more outsider help and info. Bassically a mate is heading up from Adelaide and we decided on meeting at Broken Hill. What can you guys tell me about the roads after Dubbo? How is it for fuel stops? I believe i can get to Nyngan on the second day and the 3rd day be in Broken Hill. Ideas are well in need for this one and if anyone is interested on joining even part way please let me know... Cheers Ad.. ps, I have toured alot, but not in this planned direction!

There's plenty of fuel stops on the way.

Besides the fact that the B1250 headlight seems to be powered by 2 AA batteries.
It is seriously the worst frigging headlight I have ever used on a bike.
Even worse than the first 6v VW Beatles that used to litter the roads here. I have re-aimed the light and actually have better penetration on low beam.
P.S. Our very own Gus cracked 400km on a tank not so long ago
Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
This link is how i'd do it. as u can see, most out here don't stop in Wilcannia.
Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
I'm considering my own journey towards that neck of the woods.
I've entered into the latest Farriders challenge and the destination is Euston which is about 80k east of Mildura.
The challenge is to ride 1000k in 24 hours, Euston is about 1016k from Sydney and I'm going along with some NSWRIDERS forum members. Leaving Sydney at midday and we must arrive in Euston by midday the next day (Saturday 28th May).
I still have my doubts about attending this challenge ... kangaroos, riding at night, in bitterly cold weather ......
I thought if I do go, then maybe head up to Broken Hill ... either that or head down to the Grampians and then the GOR .... long long way, maybe I'm too old for this.

Scott, which way are you going ?
NSWR want to go over the blue mountains and stay in Hay overnight ... too much riding in the dark if you ask me.
I was thinking of going down the hume hwy to make some quick km and turning off to go through Wagga Wagga.

Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Friday Sydney to Wodonga.
Saturday Wodonga to Euston.
Sunday Euston back to Sydney.
Monday sleep!
There are 2 of us going & accommodation has been sorted already - just as well too as there is a soccer tournament in Albury/Wodonga that weekend so accommodation was going fast!
It's around 2100-2200 km for the weekend.

Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Hi again, I am ok. Sore, second whiplash for me in 2 years. Wrote off an SV1000s in the same way ( rear ended at the lights).. Looks like Broken Hill will still be on and this accident ( for want of a better term, ) is a good way to have the bike fully seen to before i hit the road west. So new tires, rims polished , wheel bearings and see if he thinks the sprokets and chain are good enough for the haul.. I have found a little road on the way to Menindee which i am interested in too, so rather excited about this run. It has all been pushed back to the second week of may though.
ps, I was rear ended by a . This i will speak of after insurance has paid up and the case is finished with.

Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Yes, was looking into the direction of Gum Lake Road. This will have to wait until i get back on a dual machine. What areas or roads are easy in a days ride further west Reardo? As i see the boarder is only about 50 clicks west. Ad

What do you S.A. boys think?
Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Made up my mind, not running through the south end of nsw.. So its just a basic run from Dubbo. Pit the bike at Denman and slap it there after. Will need rear rubber at Dubbo though. Any ideas on good shops guys?
I have to run, it is that simple.

Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Thanks a lot for the tip, i will take advantage of the stop where i can leave the bike for a while fully loaded while i get lunch and have a break from the ride. Was planning on heading Down through Mildura and then back up to Broken Hill , but decided against this as i will be running alone for 80% of the trip.
The bike is on its way to being completely fixed and i got the megacycle can replaced by a carbon yoshi tri oval
Now the claim is all but done i can say what i was hit by..... FULLY MARKED HIGHWAY PATROL CAR!!!!
Go figure!

Re: Sydney to Broken Hill..
Bike is back thanks to the boys at www.mototechaustralia.com.au .. Yoshi sounds awesome in comparison to the megacycle can. The lights are set with full HID XEON conversion set up ( blows away any standard bike lighting set up i have seen in the last 10 years ) Can not say much more at this point in time. 3 weeks until departure. Parramatta ,Yass , Hay , Mildura , Broken Hill? Or Parramatta , Denman , Cobar then Broken Hill?? Still at wits end about the route. Cmon you lot, guide my way. lol

I hope the copper wrote himself a ticket for "driving without due care and attention". Not likely though. Glad your ok and your trip is still on.

7 days until departure. Will be starting this one by heading south Via Yass and across to Mildura.
And as for the policeman Grover, he was charged neg driving.
