Yoshimura R-77 Slip On Empty Yoshimura R-77 Slip On

Ok so I have expensive taste...

The Yoshimura R-77 is a great looking slip on pipe (in my opinion), especially in stainless steel with the carbon end cap. I had it installed during the pre-delivery of my bike so I'm not sure how difficult it is to fit, but it came with full instructions and seems straightforward enough.

The sound is excellent, not very loud at idle or low speed, but builds nicely on full throttle. However, it is supplied with an insert that you can use to make it quieter. It is also heaps lighter, narrower and shorter than the original suzuki exhaust.

Retail price in Australia is about $1000, but you can get it from the USA for about $600 including shipping on Ebay.

I found mine at a mob called Worldwide motorcycle equipment on Ebay. They were brilliant with information and answering questions. Mine is the Stainless steel with the Stainless steel end cap. Looks good on a dark blue bandit with silver motor. Also comes with a baffle insert if required. Local dealer wanted $900.00 for the same pipe, so $460.00 from the US looked good. Australian warranty does not apply but I am happy to take that risk. The worst it can do is lose a rivet - Big deal! Thats a five minute fix.

I got my Yoshi R77 from Bike Gear warehouse in Sydney and had it shipped to Moto Garage in Canberra for fitment.

http://bikegearwarehouse-px.rtrk.com.au/Motorcycle_Exhausts/Yoshimura-Road-Exhausts-GSF1250S-BANDIT

Moto Garage dyno'ed the bike before and after and you get about 6-7% increase in torque and power (not that you need it it - it's just a bonus).

Sounds great. Bit of backfire though.

To stop the backfire block or remove PAIRs. they all do it its the PAIRs letting air in and now u can hear it.

Don't get me wrong, I love some occasional pop and crackle.
All I am saying, that previously there was no backfire with a stock can, but with a slip on it pops and crackles when I ease off the throttle or go down the hill.
Cool

There is actually "pop and crackle" with the stock muffler, it is just more heavily muffled. Personally I enjoy the pop and crackle; it just sounds right to me.

Post  Gad C Sat 24 Aug 2013, 9:15 pm

Been Dreaming about fitting a Yoshi R77 (CF tip and sleeve) for too long for me 2010, but first registered in 2011 Black Bandit.

Researched for hrs the USA supplier sites and no real info on peoples in the forum ordering from USA in 2013.
Plus a couple of the sites from US that forum members bought from in 2010-2012 when googled now show not much activity for 2013. Whilst in some cases quick response initially for delivery. But upon returning due to dents or wrong item, drama unfolding re delayed or still waiting replacements and some negativity.

So my local dealer said $680 was about the lowest he could do and they have looked after me from the word go on every bike related item I own. So I ordered it late last Thursday (Sat now). Very happy to support my local guys even if I'm paying $80-$120 above USA supplied. Any issue can be resolved or discussed ongoing with total ease.

Can't wait to fit it and throttle up. My Golden Retriever has a barking dislike to the stock sound as it is. His in for a surprise soon, but his tail is wagging as he barks.

Just have to buy my misses a Shark Navigator, as she borrows the daughters every week now to keep the peace.

Borrowed this picture from Member "Vellies" from August 04 2012, hope he doesn't mind.

You'll love it!  Bet you spend more than a few minutes messing about with the insert - the good news here is that you can just use the screw to clamp it to the lip of the can so its a doddle to do multiple runs with and without the insert.

Also bet you start talking about popping/backfiring and PAIRS block-off!!!! Very Happy Very Happy

Can't wait for it, been out in the shed today polishing the bike and sprayed the two crapping aluminium brackets both sides of the Radiator.
Sprayed in "Stove Brite" heat resistant Metalic Black and an Auto High Gloss clear overcoat. Looks great . Same paint they used on Coonara type Log Fires or Archer Gas Log fire heaters.

Have read and viewed some photo's from the forum on pairing and inserting a 12mm bolt with the spanner head ground of first.
Will have to ask some further info on this when the time comes next week.

So Glad I paid the extra to go full carbon look on a black bike. I live near the Alpine Region and going to this years Kosciuszko Rally and then riding around the Alps and to Mallacoota will be some fun with the R77.

Funny thing, but not funny really.

2012 August
A year ago to this month I ordered a Scorpion Exhaust for the Bandit and urgently had to put my daughter into the Cabrini Private Hospital Malvern with a consulting Professor and I had no cover for it. So I cancelled the order as it wouldn't look good spending money on my bike when a few thousand was needed to spend on my daughter.

2013 August.
Last Thursday I order the Yoshi Exhaust, Friday my wife comes home and says the 3 to 4 month wait to see a Specialist Prof Neurologist Surgeon at the Alfred Hospital has been fast tracked to 1st week of Sept. No cancelling the order this time.

Ok it arrived at 10.00am this morning (Monday) at the dealer and I was working not far away and picked it.

Been looking at it and sussing it out after I finished doing my books and invoices tonight at home (Self Employed)

Question re the Can Insert.
It's screw secured with Loctite to secure it to the muffler.
But the muffler hole that aligns with the insert can is not fully punched through. Looks like could be a metal plug that needs to be punched through? and maybe there for peoples who ordered the muffler for track work and would never put a can in. Does it get punched out with screw driver and a light tap - am I thinking correct here.

Next Thursday is forecast for rain, which means no work for me. So that will be fitment day.

I don't know thw answer to that one - it struck me that the screw was pretty short for the hole.  It might be a question you don't need to answer if you decide it isn't required.  Hence, I'd be doing a few runs with it just inserted and clamped to the lip.  I thought it sounded a bit buzzy with it in and meatier with it out.  I went with meaty! Smile

You don't need it, with the catalytic convertor in there it's not that loud.
It only takes 15-20 minutes to swap over.

No Headers planned for the future. Would like a new BMWR 1000 GS if I was going to throw more money into a Bike. Although the new to be released V Strom looks the goods.

Ok Back to the present world. Re the screwed in the inner can, there is a metal plug that gets punched/prised out, not talking about the rubber grommet thing. Will punch that out prior to fitment so plug falls out, not in.

At me local dealer they have a Hayabusa with Yoshi R77's on both sides of the beast. They started it up and did it sound so nice++.
They too indicated one would not need to insert the can. Can't wait to fit it and go for a ride to Jingellic/Walla  which is in my backyard so to speak.
