Service /Repair /Moving trolley
With 2 cars, a kayak, storage cupboards, benchs, built-in shelving and 5 bikes in the garage, things are getting a tad squeezy.
Decided to make a cross between a bike lifter and a trolley ( 4 of them should do the trick ). Prototype completed using 4 swivel wheels -2 with brakes, 12mm plywood base with 90x35 center piece as stiffening. Designed frame and had 2 made up . Altered front clamp thiis morning to allow more wheel into the recess, then discovered my Bandit has a 10mm wider front wheel . So redesign again allowing for 12mm insert when the G's are on board making tyre a nice tight fit. One side of recess can be removed allowing 1 or both wheels to be removed, once on centre stand, and bike can still be moved around the garage. Raises bike by approx 140mm, not a lot will make life easier. With these I can move 3 into the space between cars and at back of 1 and have room to work on other 2 without moving cars out. Will also be able to turn a bike around easy. Hopefully drill holes in frames tomorrow.

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
I made something remarkably similar using Ball Transfer Units instead of castors. My experience with castors is that "they have minds of there own" and don't always go in the intended direction. A shopping trolley is a good example.
They will require a clean and smooth floor to operate well but they are a little smaller (lower to the ground) than castors which enables you to wheel the bike on just that little bit easier.
The whole platform can slip very easily on the floor so I found that putting it [the platform] against a wall while loading the bike solved that issue.
The 25mm units have a load rating of 50Kg, I used 4 but if that makes you nervous more units will overcome that.
They cost me $4.00 each with free shipping but I note that shipping now costs $7.00

I also considered using my unit as a turntable but I reckon you would need to strap the bike down. I never got around to trying it.

@gus
Heavy bugger, do you have wheels?
Was trying to go light as possible , didn't think of those.
@BanditDave
Garage floor is rather smooth, but don't have a wall to use thus the swivels with brakes. Converted a 300kg rated moving dolly. Didn't tie front wheel in for pic's, have front & rear tiedown points.

Mine is outside so no wheels .I can never get enough light inside the shed for some jobs . I did have one inside but it was always in the way and wheels tend to want to move .

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Ah yes, you had pic of a bike on it (gsxr).
Found a 60cm long flexible led strip light at S/cheap the other week. $4:00, bargain, soldered longer wires on it and presto, illumination for the difficult places.

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Just a further thought if you decided to change to ball transfer units and didn't have a convenient wall to push your trolley against.
Drill a couple of 20 mm holes in your trolley or add some 20 mm steel sleeves vertically oriented
Drill some 20 mm holes in your concrete slab
Position the trolley over the floor holes (pretty bloody obvious really!) and drop 20 mm bolts through.
Ball transfer units I used, apart from their amazing manoeuvrability and low cost is they are only 31 mm high which probably does away with your ramp (one less trip hazard).

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Thanks, will eventually have 4 trolleys as I have 4 line across the back and can have the fifth one across the front of the 4. Only need one ramp, once bike on remove ramp . Cheers

You do all that welding and stuff yourself?! The most technical thing I can do is put the kettle on! Looks great, Doc, post a video of the trolley-stand in action!

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
The only thing I would possibly change is the tie downs
Just use 2 from the handle bars and pull forward and out

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
You would possibly need something like this on faired bikes

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Hi Chook,
I have holes at the bars as well but used the rear ones as a trial with the Bandit.
Have 2 trolleys in use at the moment with my G's and am using front tie downs and working well.

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Okay Chook you've made me have a think -correct you are .
Current front holes are just on front of handlebsrs, will make new ones near centre of front wheel tomorrow.
Rear location is for when on centre stand and front wheel removed or for when both wheels removed.

Re: Service /Repair /Moving trolley
Time flies when you're busy doing stuff to the house etc.
Not a bandit but general update;
Trolleys need a bit more steel, tend to bow when using centrestand.
Red one going on historic regarding as soon as tyres arrive.
Black one was the one back in May.
Both had all master & slaves done, new brake pads & piston, all filters and all oils done.
