Convert '96-7 faired to naked?

I punched "naked" into the search engine and was overcame with hits     

Any of you guys taken the "naked" route? links to info?

Made a thicker fork brace, not as sexy as the bought ones, but probably better than the tinfoil factory guy.

Nothing wrong with the brace but button heads instead of allen heads would look better . The guard has a button head shape ,they would just blend in better . I know ,trivial but the brace deserves it .

Won't happen Gus   I don't use button head stainless caps where any tension is required, they have a habit of striping out the head and then they're a bitch to get out.

Granted that they would look better though.

No tension on the middle ones .

The smaller they get, the easier they are to strip

A compromise to take the "pimple" look from the screws could be to partially countersink the cap heads?

It's a quality job you've done on the bracing plate - I assume it is alloy.

Yeah, it's a piece of 12mm ali I had laying around.

I'm in love with this damn thing    I've taken it for a couple of blasts over the last couple of days and am actually thinking of moving my '12 
My brother has said I should keep both, I want to but I could also do with the reddies.  

It gets a bit old paying rego on multiple rides(I currently have 7 registered vehicles), bonus is that the '96 Bandit can be Club redg'd in 2 years 

What is an immaculate(I look after my shit   )  '12 with Yoshi sticks, Arrow pipe, and an Akra can and 26500k's worth?

I recently paid under $5k for a 2008 1250s with 18,500 kms on it. It was better than showroom condition as it didn't even have dust on it. But people might expect to pay more for a 2012 (although mechanically there is no difference). 



I painted the rims silver.

^^^^Looks nice, and obviously a great buy     I couldn't move mine for $5k(or under), I'd rather pull the reg and push it onto the corner

Went for a quick blat today, damn I love this thing the more I ride it. It just seems to handle and steer better than my '12, and it definitely has more poke than my '12 had when I first bought it and the engine seems so much smoother    Maybe it's just a "naked" thing    I do really enjoy the wind on my chest as it gives my chicken wings some relief

I booked the scooter in for a roady this week, hopefully get it rego'd early next year    

I can barely wait to take it for a decent squirt    I have spoken with my brother a few times about going on a tour to Mildura, but he's recently started a new job after being retired for the last 2 years.......so I'm not sure that's gonna happen

While traveling with someone like minded is great , don't be put off the idea of a solo trip , and the freedom it offers to indulge your inner self  if they are unable to go with you .I once rode Adelaide to Sydney & back to visit my son on my own..........There was always someone to have a chat with at the stops , and it gave me an opportunity to just indulge and connect with myself when & how I pleased in a way that only a long ride on your own can .
 
P.S. .................Your girth also sounds very impressive , and leaves me just a little envious 

Actually Paul I do enjoy riding on my own whether it's dirt or bitumen, but the ride to Mildura is more of a memorabilia cruise. I fruit picked around the area a lot in the 80's and my brother and I would always manage to hook up for some sherbets 

 ...........might have to wait a while then .

My brother rings today to confirm a ride later this week or early next week, I ask what he's doing at the moment and he replies that he's polishing his scooter. Thinking that I'm taking the '96 in Friday for rego I'll do the same  

I get 3/4 through a light cut and I find what's in the pics below and my heart nearly broke  I took the bike in for a RWC, and bleed both brakes and clutch just under 3 weeks ago, I brought it home put it in the shed and threw a cover over it until today.

It was obviously too big of a job to pull the RH cover to access the rear brake master cylinder......lets just bend the cover till it breaks   The turds made no mention of it to me. Fuck I'm pissed off 

If anyone has a good RH cover the same colour for sale could you please let me know?
