Ive got my K4 today and there is a good bit of camchain noise. Bikes got 95,000 ks on it.

So looks like in doing the chain. Is it hard? Do you have to pull the cams?

Guess I cut the old one, cable tie the new one to the old one and thread it through?

Are they a clip type?

I'd be changing the tensioner first. See how it goes after that

Do they fault a bit? I was thinking of going manual.

I'm not sure about bandits but some other suzukis have had trouble with them.

Still its cheaper and easier to change the tensioner first before tackling the chain

I agree with MM but only because its far easier. But I've not heard of one going on any Bandit but its worth a shot.

I don't know if a manual unit would be necessary Rob. The autos are a ratchet type I think. This one has done 95k Smile

To be fair with that many Ks on it I think a chain is a good idea anyway.

It's easy. Take the tank off. Take the lid off. Pull the plugs. Align the timing marks. Pull the cams out. Heaps of rag under the chain. Break the chain. Take out the rags. Wire the new to the old and hand crank the motor until the new chain is all the way around. Put in the joiner. Take out the rags. Check the timing mark alignment. Put the cams back. Release the tensioner. Check the timing marks again. Put the lid on. Put the plugs back in. Tank back on. Done. I've done 6 that way, different bikes, never had a problem. Just about to do mine if I can find a chain.

pull the cover and see if the cams are lining up..........
If they are not, the chain is stretched, in theory the inlet will retard and the exhaust will advance, that is why it will run like crud

Yup they were out for sure. Does go better with a new chain in it.
