Ignition cutout problems!
G'day Bob from Kyogle here . I am 55 years young . I have a couple of Suzuki's , One is a Harris with a GSX1100 engine but my everyday ride is a 2003 GSF1200S which I bought secondhand 40,000 km ago . It has given me no trouble in all those k's until this ignition problem reared it's ugly head ! A while back I stripped it of its fairing and mounted dominator headlights . About two weeks later the ignition problems started namely the bike starts fine and runs fine but loses spark briefly usually coming back through the cogs , when it does the tacho drops to zero and jumps back up as the spark comes back . While all this is happening all other electrics such as speedo and lights work fine . Any feedback on what the problem could be I would be greatfully appreciated .

Check to see if previous owner put a timing retard eliminator on bike. In the gear position cct.
Unsure if a faulty TRE would give your symptoms, but if it's happening on down shift only, that is where I would start looking.

Harris
Nice looking Harris but no it's not mine. Computers are not my forte so when I get a visit from one of my four kids I will get them to post a photo or two for me .

Considering you played about with the lights it's got to be related. Have you thought about disconnecting them to see if it is the actual lights? My money is on the kill switch or something up with the ignition switch or wiring to them both.

Ignition problems solved !
The problem was in the side stand switch which was my first guess but because it tested fine I moved on . It turned out to be actuating with only a few mill of side stand movement ,I bent the actuating plate up about 10mm , problem solved ! Thanks again to everyone for their input .
