Use the add image button in the tool bar. Paste the photobucket link into it

The forum software needs to be able to differentiate between what you're writing and what is a link (to a photo/web site etc).  It does this by encapsulating the link within special characters.  You've already worked out the link itself is the "http://photo...blah...blah...blah computer-speak", to make the forum page show the actual photo the link has these special charcters at the front and back " [ u r l = " and " [ / u r l ] " (note - I have inserted spaces so the computer doesn't think this is an actual link).

What the insert photo icon does is puts the url info at the start and end of your link.

Now I'm not sure about PhotoBucket, but on the Servimg photo hosting site I use, once you have uploaded a picture you get a page simular to this:

once more for the newbie dummy, please Servim10

In the middle of the page you can see the BBcode info, with a link for Thumbnail (little picture version) and Image - normal size picture.  Sevimg has already added the url info to the link for you, so all you need to do is hit the copy button under the Image info and the link is copied to your computer, go back to your message, put the cursor where you want the image to appear and paste the code directly (no need to use the Image Icon).  A shortcut to paste is press and hold "Ctrl" whilst hitting the "V" key.

Like skinning a cat, there are many ways to do the same thing, I find this the easiest for me.

Thanks Barry.
Excellent description.  I have it sorted now. Was just getting confused about the box that wasn't coming up whilst following the other guide.
Cheers
