Bloody Thing!
Got on The Bandit to leave for work and noticed a shiny patch on the left hand fork dust cover. Sure enough, a blown fork seal!

Re: Bloody Thing!
I'm in full sympathy - I went into the shed last week to find fluid near the front wheel of the TRX - sure enough, the front left fork seal is leaking (straight down onto the brake caliper too). Must be the season for it.Kaupy1962 wrote:Got on The Bandit to leave for work and noticed a shiny patch on the left hand fork dust cover. Sure enough, a blown fork seal!

Re: Bloody Thing!
Yep, me too
Otherwise we might all have to start carrying some foam rubber to place beside our bikes when we stop
That'd be a good use for one of your new panniers MM

Re: Bloody Thing!
The stupid thing is, I haven't ridden it. It had been parked on the side stand while I was in Brisbane for 3 weeks. It didn't have a leak before then.

Re: Bloody Thing!
The TRX was also in the shed a while after its previous ride before the seal went. They must just get moody.

Re: Bloody Thing!
Sit down time is not good for fork seals. I suspect neither is the use of side stands.
I almost always have had the greatest number of fork seal failures in the left side, and on bikes that have been kept on side stands for extended periods of time.
Maybe only my imagination, but seems to be true. Other members opinions please.

Cant see how the side stand has anything to do with it any more than road camber sees the left leg extended more than the right........
