Yip. That's where my two are going. As well as the headers. Have you felt the weight in those things ?madmax wrote:Maybe scrap metal yard?

I'm hanging on to mine, just in case I get some dickhead at pink slip time that doesn't like aftermarket items

Call me strange if you like, you won't be the first I've still got the standard exhaust fitted.
I'm curious that nobody has proposed shortening and "gutting" the original muffler which I have seen done for quite a few other bikes.
Is it not practical maybe?

Probably . But it would look even funnier shortened. The Cat' is one of the main problems in any system the you mod. Restriction plus.BanditDave wrote:Call me strange if you like, you won't be the first I've still got the standard exhaust fitted.

if you got the time mate just to experiment... I`ve in the past played with a stockie, and to be honest, the end result did make a difference, and when I turned vain and got a yosh, it made no difference.BanditDave wrote:Call me strange if you like, you won't be the first I've still got the standard exhaust fitted.

I made it breath by making it the same size pipe from link pipe to outlet pipe, and still passing through the two chambers, which by standard form, from link pipe, reduces another two times to outlet. Deeper note than standard, not load, but breaths.
if you think(in my opinion)the weight saving of an after market pipe alone is going to make your bike go faster........mmmmmmmm
yeah sure!!!!!!on a bandit, which is by nature, a torque engine, not a HP engine(can be made to be.. but!)
but like I say, I must be vain too. I`ll never get rid of the modified though.
When I ride to Brisbane from Gladstone return all the time, my bike is loaded to the hilt, and I don`t feel the weight problem at all, in fact, I like the extra weight, I recon it handles better, more planted, only aerodynamics comes in to effect, if high speed WAS a factor.

Now that would take quite a deal of "creative panel beating" to get it back into shape.
So, looks like I am one of few who admire the beauty of the original exhaust
I just looked up the replacement price for the original muffler - $1100 WOW!!!!!! $30 is not a bad deal
