Husband asks "Is it worth removing baffle from stock standard muffler?"
As we had put an IXIL after market slip-on on the Honda, we (husband) were wondering, as a cheaper option, is it worth removing the baffle from the Bandit's stock standard muffler?
If so, how does it sound? Or is it better to buy something like a Two Brothers or Staintune?

You could try but your still going to have a huge ugly can sitting there. I'd be changing it

Re: Husband asks "Is it worth removing baffle from stock standard muffler?"
what do you mean by removing the baffle on the standard?
I say this because the standard system isn`t straight through, and goes through two chambers, and reduces in size through each chamber. There is three different sizes of pipe before it hits the outside world.
First is header size where it enters the pipe, then there is a smaller ballance pipe inturnally between the two chambers, then there is the final pipe that you see at the end, which is smaller again.
I had pulled apart and modified my original pipe, and made it the same size all the way through, but still made it pass through both chambers to keep the noise down. I did this the same time I put a k&n on,and it needed rejetting, cause it left a flat spot in the midrange.
So if you can remove a tail end baffle,I doubt it will do much as for the the way a standard system is made

As others have said. No.
Stump up the cash for a new muffler. Easier, better, lighter.

No, as already stated. You might find some videos on a Youtube search. At least you can hear and see what some of them look like.

I think Gus has tried to dismantle the huge Saturn 5 can without success... from memory he found it was all welded together somehow and unable to be disassembled.

+ 1. Gus clearly demonstared that you cannot remove the original baffle - it is an integral part of the cannon. Hope you can find the original Gus post - I'd look but I can't die twice from laughter at the reuslt!!!!

Don't worry Chris. It's only the winter chill slowing everyone up a little. Spring time is drawing closer. Yippee !

Hey Gus, you need to do that to SB1250's so he has a reason to replace his stock can!

Thanks Baz
Hmm that can looks familiar... I have a matte black IXIL on my honda cb400, I seem to get alot of backfiring though, I think thats what you guys call "popping"?
I looked at the Bandit, looking back at the Honda, and think I will leave it for the time being, until other expenses are over and done with.
When the time comes, I'm sure I will be back here asking more about it.

I brought the screaming demon pipe for my wife's CB400 and that has the same popping on throttle off. it is just the noise caused by unburnt fuel in the can and due to the reduction of muffler you can now hear it. I have not had time yet to take the tank off and and block the PAR pipe like we do on the Bandit which cures the problem.
