Forks........
After a ride today the harsh front end got annoying .I have a race tech (I think) 9.5 kg spring (I think ) 5'' spacer which gives me 30mm sag (rider on )
The idea was to take some oil out to give me a softer ride .
I measured the oil height (no spring ,compressed ) and it was 170 mm below top .
QUESTION IS .....just how much oil can one take out ?
I was thinking 20 mm (each side ) but 190mm below top sounds strange ?
Any ideas ?
Then again ,may be a higher oil height with a lighter oil ?

I'm pretty sure that a light oil is the way to go, as long as all the valves have been modified to suit. The suspension set up is pretty much a science. I leave that stuff to the experts.

Re: Forks........
Your spring rate would be fine provided you weigh < 100 kg (approx); problem is too much compression damping You could try 5wt oil with a lower volume, the limiting factor will be the rebound damping, which
with .95 springs, will be pretty marginal. Lowering the oil will be your best option, (apart from the obvious of modifying the compression and rebound valves).

Re: Forks........
Harsh my be overstating it ,it just not as good as the TL . With a cable tie around the fork leg I've still got too much travel unused .
With gear 100 kg is about right .
I've taken 20mm (each leg ) out .Be interesting where c\tie ends up .
I better say ,tl 1000s has Ohlins rear and I haven't looked in the front so it may have been professionally sorted.
If that's the case i'm never going to match it .
Gee , the bandit is a heavy mother (compared )

Re: Forks........
I don't have fond memories of the TL, I was one of the first to write one off! It wasn't even mine, demo bike with about 80kms on the clock. The owner of the bike shop was/is a good mate of mine and wanted to know my thoughts on it. He called me after I got out of hospital with broken foot and hand and asked me what I thought of the bike.... The front end and back end did not like each other and high sided me at 120 on straight road with a few bumps. The standard Bandit feels better than the standard TL (to me) it has yet to through me down the road anyway
