horsepower - conflicting data
First topic message reminder :
Hi,
I'm very new to this forum - only found it on the weekend but unable to get the 'introduce yourself' function to work.
I have a 2010 GSX 1250 FA (arguably the best bike I have ever owned for all 'round 'bang for ya buck') - anyway, my question is this; there seem to be conflicting reports about the horsepower produced by the standard bike - some sites quote as low as 91 bhp whilst others quote 98bhp.
So which is it?
Adding to my confusion, I fitted a Staintune can & firmly believe that the bike's performance is much crisper. However, I took my bike into Peter Stevens for its 6,000km service today & they put the bike onto the dyno (Dynojet Performance Evaluation Program) & it only achieved 97.19bhp - this is despite Staintune's claim to provide 5 - 10bhp.
Any comments?
Cheers,
Silver

This is exactly why trying to compare dyno charts between bikes and dyno’s is a pissing contest;
Note: These are true numbers measured on Dales in-house Dynojet 250 I Dynamometer with "Win Pep 7" program.
The Holeshot compound is about 200 feet above sea level and the dyno room stays at a constant temperature between 68-74° F. These results were also achieved with Dales tuning, which is a bonus. Dale uses his dyno as a measuring tool for development and testing only.
Be aware, that dynos, dyno operators, conditions and bikes can vary 3-8 hp, so this should only be used as a reference for before and after results.

A mate of mine used to spend a fortune shaving a few grams here and there off his GSXR. I always chuckled to myself as he'd have gained far more effective horsepower losing his gut.
I have had to go to Stage II just to get past 50ks......
I have lost over 7kg in last few months. That's about a 3% improvement in power/weight......
Welcome, silver, I am in NE of Adelaide, and ran into a couple of blokes with bandits at Lobethal on Sunday, including Shaun from Virginia with a very nice 2008 like mine but with tasty hand polishing job on the wheels and footpeg hangers. Shaun also got rid of his centre-stand and grab bar to shed weight.
When I lose the standard pipe for a Delkevic or similar I reckon I'll get some extra mumbo but the improvement in power/weight will be noticeable too - the standard pipe weighs a ton.
Personally I reckon the Bandit doesn't necessarily need more power, though - like me it needs to go on a diet.

Re: horsepower - conflicting data
Hear ,hear . When i removed the centre stand i could noticably tell the differance for the better .(its THAT heavy )Trouble was i was working on
the bike nearly every day so i put it back on .I might take it off again .5 min job now i reversed the bolt .I'm tempted to weigh every thing
i've taken off .
It certainly looks a lot better without it
