New Sargent Seat
First topic message reminder :
My new Sargent seat arrived today from the US, 2 weeks after I ordered it. I took the original seat off and the Sargent fitted straight on. It looks and feels wider than the original seat, both front and pillion. Have only ridden on it for half an hour, will know more when my wife and I go for a longer ride. I will try to take some photos tomorrow.

Re: New Sargent Seat
I haven't got the neoprene, just the cheaper version. Like others have stated, less is more. Your bum should just be touching the seat. You are raised 1cm if you are lucky. Whilst it doesn't look pretty it works so damn well that you had wished you had bought one sooner. The squishy poo sort of feeling you first get when you sit on it soon passes and you get used of it. It is a bit bizarre if you start trying to ride like you are racing as you will move around quite a bit on the seat. These things are more for touring, but I have used it on a spirited ride and it's alright.

That is a strange feeling at first isnt it.You feel disconnected to the bike . Lets make Stoner use one and see how he goes.

I happily promote this product:
My Sergant stopped the Corporal punishment of my Private parts.
/bad puns
Went for a ride today with my new airhawk fitted onto the OEM gel seat ... had some of my own Corporal Punishment.
So, took advantage of the exchange rate and bought a sargent seat, US$437.66 delivered to my door.
AU$600 from a local distributor .. no brainer

Re: New Sargent Seat
good going Baz - I'll be keen to see what you think of the Sargeant.
for the moment I'll stick with gel & airhawk - they did a great job on the Farride the other week

Re: New Sargent Seat
I'll be selling the gel seat soon enough ... I kept on sliding forward on it.
After riding Potatomashers bike the other day I thought the standard seat gave quite a good ride, suspension built into it.
and yes when it comes to comfort money is not a problem, need to get some bar risers fitted next

Comfort-Max Gel Pads
Anyone tried these? Memory foam + 3/4" gel + neoprene or sheepskin cover.

Narcolepsy - the sharp knife and silicon spray are for the Bandit's seat I hope - not your rear end!
Hope it goes well - as always: take some photos before, during and after; and let us know whether the process is a 'pain in the a***e' or not.

Re: New Sargent Seat
I got my new sergeant seat this week. It certainly is lighter than the gel seat and maybe even the oem standard seat, , fitted it and went for a ride today and I think it works out quite good for my height (I got the low version). I'll take it to the Oxley Hwy next weekend and I'll fit the airhawk to it to see how that goes, and I'll take some pics.
I have doubts I'll be able to sell the gel seat now that I've had it recovered, it would only really suit a blue bandit now. I'm thinking about taking the cover off it just to see what is underneath and find out why the hell its so heavy.

I don't feel as comfortable as I did on the V Strom, but I now think that may be related to the different seating position. Next I plan to raise the bars a little and see what difference that makes.
Photos have been uploaded, hope the link works.

Excellent work, thank you for the pictures. This is exactly what I was looking for. Looks wider and less sloped toward the tank. Sargent it will be.

Over the weekend I went to a shop that sells sheep and other skins to rich tourists. It just happens that they had some off cuts. Got me thinking....So I grabbed a small off cut stitched a bit of elastic to the under side and viola. Its about half an inch thick and just covers the top of the seat and edges. have used it a few times and it really take the zing out of your ring. Its a cropped cut not the fluffy furry type so is nice and comfy. Total cost $18.

Looks good, and a good price too.
Just a thought it might be better to tuck the front edge in. I'm thinking it would be better to have the wool against the tank rather than the hide.

Did you find it higher than the standard seat, with the standard seat on its low position?
The reason I ask is, I had 15mm supposedly taken out of my seat and i still find it a tad tall, manageable but I wouldn't want to go higher.

Thank Madmax,
Its version 1 so the next time I think I'll do a tuck round and under.
