So I might have a second bike....
Due to the unfortunate events early December 2010, I've been without a bike for the last 6-7 weeks. Forecast is mid Feb before parts will be available. So I've been looking for another bike. The first one I test rode was a 96 ZX7R. Having never ridden a sports bike, I felt the position very limiting and uncomfortable. The jokes selling it had to put it back togethe for the test ride and go the good going over by my mechanic brother. The seller had forgot he had it on Allclassifieds for $3000 and that's what I offered. Tried to talk me up to 4 but I wasn't impressed with the ride and the condition was so-so. Anyway, got a message the next day saying the bike was sold for 4500 or something, but I didn't care, as I'd made up my mind on the way home the previous day.
On Saturday, went to the (very) limited bike shops around town. First shop had a 07 GSX1400 with only 8200km. Didn't find anything else that day.
Took the 14 for a ride today. Pending loan application, I will be having that bike as a second ride, oh yes, it will be mine

Nice.
Do ya recon you'll end up keeping the 1250 once it comes back home?

Did you make it into Queanbeyan for a look? There's a nice SV1000 in one of the shops, but I reckon you're onto a winner with the 1400.

I will keep the 1250, as it's proven itself through the colder months and I have all my panniers and racks for it. The 14 has a top box, which is a nice bonus, but I prefer the hard luggauge when working shift.

Actually had a new blue on order with the Tuono as trade in .Walked past a Naked Bandit the next day and casually asked "what one of those worth "
$9300 plus on road $1100. Bought the bandit instead and kept the Tuono. If there was no Bandit i'll have one of those too. Disappointed that
are not making them any more .The only thing i was a bit hesitant about was the weight ,the Tuono weighs 165kg so the 1400 looked so BIG at first.
I realy like the look of that motor (1400 ) and the seat is what the Bandit should have had.

The 14 is 25kg or so lighter than the Bandit. Lower seat height too.

There you go ,certainly looks the next size up.Pity i carnt get that seat to fit the bandit.
That makes me ask why IS the bandit heavier ,a little bit of water carnt weigh that much can it?
Or is the bandit heavier ,just read the 1250 is 3kg lighter ?Dont realy care either way just the 1400 looks bigger to me?

I dunno, if you can ride the bandit, you can ride the 14. Looking at parts for it already. Yes I know, premature but the stock pipe has to go. The hint of the beast I heard today was too quiet
GSX1400 - Dry weight 225kg
GSX1250FA - Curb Mass 257 kg
Funny how Suzuki changed their terminology. Surprising seeing as the 14 has a 21L tank and the Bandit has 19L.
If they still made the 14 when I was looking to upgrade, it would have been a very close choice between the 14 and the Bandit.

Re: So I might have a second bike....
shes a pretty sweet looking ride from I've seen. Like the colour, and already got a few of the important mods fitted (topbox and cooler guard by the looks)
I recon the weights are pretty close between the 1250 and the 1400 when you do the sums
100hp and 125 Nm of tork straight up- Mmmmmmmmm
One of these would be on my list
