Turn Signals
Did i read here of someone that had CUT DOWN their turn signals.I like the" Christmas tree look" LED ones Whitey Showed in the
Just wash it post.Trouble is i'm trying to keep myself entertained while not spending money that i didn't earn. Four blinkers plus led flasher plus
all the other little bits about $180. Cutting them down,if it can be done successfully,$0.
I dont hate the look of originals ,but i hate the way they DROOP.Ive looked at them a few times and thought this should be easy only to
put them back on untouched.I saw a post that someone did it, but carnt find it now
Any one cut theirs down?
Never mind, done it. IF anyone interested i'll post it up step by step ,3 more to do ,just ask.Takes about 15mins each to cut down, very easy.
One on the left normal. One on the right 18mm shorter, could have gone more but was happy with it.
Much better, lost the droopy look.

Re: Turn Signals
First off is that" Klinggon " that Siakhan speaks. Try to work it out but to no comprendo.Need help
Second, the aprilia is like a V-Twin Bandit. Ride position very similar. Power similar.Weight is MUCH lighter.Suspension is ROCK hard.Seat better.
Noise still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.(Akappovic) 60,000ks no problems so far.Horrible around town.Bandit tours better.
Sold it once missed it so much bought it back after 3 weeks.Love it. Ride one for 5 mins you may not.The surprising thing is how comfortable it is
Third ,the turn signals.
I've looked at them before and could not work out how to do it perfectly. This time for some reason it was easy as can be.
Take rear blinker off.Connector is in ducktail .Black conn.for right one, grey for left.A bit fiddly but o.k.Take blinker completely apart on kitchen table.
The steel pin that goes through the rubber body stays in place.
You'll see how the rubber slides into the plastic housing. With a very sharp knife extend it up the shaft.Like filleting a fish ,I cut off 3 lines .Cut a little grove to accept the slide pin.
Cut off END of rubber so it leaves room for the bulb..Add a little grease so it slides into housing.Reasemble.Once you have blinker in pieces its pretty obvious, just have a look
at the bad photos above.Best thing is the finish is perfect, everything lines up and does'nt look hacked at.Took me about 10 mins each, once i had
blinker off the bike.To me the look is a lot better and has lost that floppy ,ends too heavy look .Got to love the costs $0
Some will say they still look too big and they are probably right ,but its an improvement.
One on left shortened ,right one original.(Looks more of a differance in real life )

Re
The problem with shortening the indicators (in victoria at least) is that there is a minimum distance that the lights must be seperated by. If not the bike is unroadworthy.

Re: Turn Signals
ANd that distance is ? Come on, you know i was going to ask that ,homework time.
The distance now is 355mm from centre bulb to bulb. Legal ?

Re: Turn Signals
Good work Gus. Unfortunately those blinkers still look fucking horrible!
I'll take the LED option I have on my bike any day of the week. The Bandit isn't the best looking bike on the planet, but anything to make it look a little more dressed up is good I reckon.

Re: Turn Signals
After looking on the internet last night for blinkers they were either too small ,ugly ,way out ,expensive ,cheap (how good can 4 for $8 BE ? ) or just
not suited to a naked Bandit .To my tasts anyway .For some strange reason the originals look ok to me (my old GS 1000 MAKES them look tiny )
but just a bit long .I cut them down as above shows but today i made them shorter again , quite happy for $0

ADR Specs are: 240mm min distance for fronts between illuminating surface ( whatever that means ) and no closer than 75mm from headlight.
180mm min distance for rears.
180mm min distance for rears.

All sweet then Gus. Have you checked the luminescence?

[quote="gus"]What are you lot ,the cops or something .
You seemed to be so worried about being pulled over and checked for your solo seat Gus, that I thought you better be right with your blinkers.
Mind you. You should see my bosses Harley blinkers ! Honostly, I could not even find them when I first saw it. Thay are tiny. Fronts are on each side of triple trees, and rears are on the top corners of no: plate.
