Riding in a group
If your riding with a group of lets say 10, and a radar pings you coming from the opposite direction, how many can get a ticket.
Is it the one in front or could be all of you?
Got caught once with one other bike being very naughty, ended up with a stern warning by the cop but was expecting the licence shredder .Always wandered if we just got lucky or he couldn't book both of us?(This was a while ago now though)

I wouldn't worry, at the rate the interstate guys are going, you'll never find out what it's like to ride in a group.
Re: Riding in a group
Thats the point ,95% of the time i'm on my own. Would i be better off buying some friends.
Every time i go to moto GP i feel like i'm a target being on my own ,or doesn't it work that way ?

Re: Riding in a group
It think the answer has more to do with the mood the copper is in than the actual law. He can only point the radar at one vehicle at a time, so unless he has to chase you, I'd guess only the front rider would get done.
If you're talking about the ones that take a picture of the front of the vehicle only, the answer is none of you will get a ticket. But if it takes a photo of the back of the vehicle, chances are you will all get a ticket.

Re: Riding in a group
If it's a mobile radar coming the other way & you're reasonably close together they can't prove who the reading came from so don't let them bluff you, they need an admission of guilt. A copper mate says deny deny deny. Also with a mobile in the opposite direction, RUN!! By the time they turn around you can be out of their line of sight & once you're out of sight you can either stay that way( in Qld they basically can't chase you) or park by the road somewhere & deny deny deny - they can't prove it was you they saw unless you say so, & knowing something is a much different thing from proving it. Am I being irresponsible????

Re: Riding in a group
PERHAPS.
If i'm 5 or 10 kays over the limit i'm probably not going to do a runner.50 kays over, weeeell still not sure. Each to there own.
Does show though i'm at more risk on my own.Do like it when i get over taken buy a "quick" car so you can tuck in behind.
There is a post here on etiquette when being pulled over .I have a certain system i go through that has worked well for me.
Everybody else probably has there own.Getting off the bike and saying "got a problem" doesnt work.Anyone want to start it?(the post)
Need admission of guilt, thats worth remembering.

Re: Riding in a group
The cops have a brand new mobile radar/camera out here now that can check something like 30 rego's a second, but i dont no if it can book 10 riders a once tho.
Re: Riding in a group
The standard line when pulled over for speeding goes like this;
COP: What's your reason for speeding?
YOU: I'm not sure I was.
Ther have to ask a reason.
Your response engages them to prove it at the roadside or in court with no admission from you.
Advice for VIC but should be ok for others.
Oh and I am authorised to enforce other laws, regs etc and passing the "attitude test" will be in your favor. Running is an instant fail. No if's but's or maybee's.
