Re: 5th or 6th..
the error is a progressive thing on the bandit. most modern electronic speedos are the same. mechanical speedos can be a hole different ball game
In the majority of cases a speedo will be out by a percentage:
*out by 10% at 60kph
*out by 10% at 100kph
*out by 10% at 200kph
*etc
*etc
so at each speedo reading the difference between indicated and actual will be something different if you talk kph
speedo error is impacted by a hole number of things such as:
*gearing (both gearbox, final drive, speedo gearing, the list goes on)
*electronic or mechanical speedo
*tyre selection (different brands in the same size can have a different effect)
*tyre pressures (this is usually pretty small but can still effect things)
*tyre temps (see tyre pressure)
*weight on the bike (see the two above)
and a few others

Speedo correction
This is off the original topic but I don't think anyone really gets upset on this forum.
Travelling into Melbourne from Ballarat they have the 'Check your speed' set-up. I went through at an indicated 110, and the figure 104 kph showed up. Last time I checked their speed check against my GPS (in the car) it was out by a couple of kph. I figured they were wanting to still allow a margin. Waiting for motorcycle GPS units to get really cheap - and then I will use one permanently set-up to show true speed.
And has been said - even at the corrected speed people pass you - out of Melbourne I was travelling beside a Aston Vantage until he buggered off, and later a Maserati seemed to think speed limits were not applicable to him.

See holeshot.com for advice on getting the Bandit to go better. The guy is Dale Walker, he's helpful and his stuff is cheaper than buying it in OZ. I paid $380 bucks for the TFI unit, Oxygen Sensor Bypass and a K&N filter. I am eagerly awaiting their arrival.
He got 170+ mph in 5th. The guy has a speedo healer installed.
Bike has a TFI Dobeck, Slip On, K&N and the Airbox Mod - remove the snorkel and drill a 38mm hole at the front of the airbox lid.

The "experts" is yet to be tested. I know a bit about nuclear physics but i'm no expert.
